Clash (Cal and Macy's Story 1) - Page 2

Even now, just revisiting that dream causes a stirring down below. I end up focusing my gaze on Macy's cool features and I envision not my cock in her mouth, but rather the acerbic way in which I'm sure she's going to cut into me at some point.

It's just our thing, and I'm not sure we know how to act any other way around each other.

When I reach the table, Mac hops off Matt's lap and takes the seat beside him, leaving the only empty chair next to Macy.

Just fucking great.

"What's up?" I say to Matt with a tilt of my chin as I set my plate and beer down. Then with a quick glance to my right, I give a muttered, "Macy," to acknowledge her.

I'm not quite sure I hear her right and that could be because there's a clown chasing shrieking kids not fifteen feet away, but I think she mutters right back, "Saint Calvin".

And so it begins.

With a sigh, I decide to concentrate on my beer, picking it up to take a healthy swig. After swallowing, I ask Matt, "Where's Gabe?"

Matt shrugs his shoulders. "Somewhere around here with his grandpa. Last I saw them, they were over at the pony rides."

Gabe is Matt's nine-year-old son from his prior marriage, and he's pretty much the cutest kid ever. I'm actually surprised he's not hovering over Aaron while he takes a nap, because I don't think there was anyone more excited when Mac gave birth than Gabe was. For almost two months, he just chattered nonstop about having a baby brother and even pitched a fit when he had to go home with his mom, Marissa.

Yeah... that would be the same woman I fucked that ruined my friendship with Matt. While Matt and Marissa have come a long way in treating each other nicely, I still can't stomach the sight of her. Luckily, I don't have to see her very much, and it's only on a rare occasion that she might drop Gabe off at the office for Matt that I will have an occasion to run in to her.

And as much as I dislike Macy, let me make it clear... those are all clearly annoyances and petty, superficial things. My feelings for Marissa border on loathing, and I always cast a suspiciously guarded eye toward her when she's in the vicinity. This might have something to do with the fact that the reason we ended up fucking was because I was drunk off my ass, passed out, and woke up to find her sucking my cock. She then climbed on top of me and rode me for a while, and yeah... it felt good even in my drunken haze, but I eventually came to my senses and pushed her off me. It didn't last long, but it was long enough to destroy my relationship with Matt, which occurred because I immediately confessed everything to him.

So with my memories filled heavily with the poison of Marissa, it doesn't bother me all that much when Macy says in an overly pained voice, "I'm not happy with the quality of the caviar the caterer is using."

I don't even turn to look at her, just pick my beer up for another healthy swallow, but not before I snort at the ludicrousness of serving caviar at a birthday party for a one-year-old.

"What?" Macy immediately demands, and I swear, she must have been poised and on the edge of her seat ready for a fight with me. "What's with the condescending snort, Saint Calvin?"

I give a causal shrug and slide my eyes over to her. My voice is as dry as the desert when I say, "I'm sure Aaron's not going to mind."

"Well, of course he won't mind. He's not eating it, but the adults are, and I do have standards to uphold," she says seriously, and I can't fucking help it... I snort again.

My eyes cut over to Matt and as expected, I see an amused smile on his face. For some reason, I think he gets off on our little squabbles. I don't dare look at Mac, because she will not be amused.

Instead, I turn my gaze back to Macy and actually relish the blazing heat that's flaming from her eyes at me. Fuck, she's stunning. A pain in the ass, but undeniably stunning.

"Seriously, Macy... caviar at a birthday party for a one-year-old? I'm pretty sure cake is all that was really required," I say and then as an afterthought, I hold my beer up to her in a mock toast. "Oh... but the beer is good. That's definitely a nice touch."

"Of course, a Neanderthal like you would think so," she sneers as she eyes me up and down. And fuck... my cock actually twitches a bit when her eyes graze over my crotch.

I hear Mac give a long-winded sigh, but I can't help it. Once we start these little fights, they can't end until I end up drawing good blood.

"Everyone's a Neanderthal to you, Macy, unless their blood is as blue as yours. You take snobbery to a new level."

Mac gasps, Matt gives a tiny chuckle, and Macy actually growls at me.

"I can't take you two bickering," Mac says as she stands up from the table and pushes away. She levels a chastising look at me first, and then slides it on over to Macy, letting both of us know she's equally displeased. "I'm going to go check on Aaron. Get whatever this is out of your system and let it go so you don't ruin my son's birthday."

I wince, because that makes me feel like shit. Mac is gone quickly though, so I decide to do just as she suggested. Continue the fight and get it out of my system, and now that Mac is gone, I have free rein to do so.

"You two should just fuck each other," Matt says abruptly, and my head spins so fast I almost dislocate it off my shoulders when I turn to gape at him. "Get all that pent-up energy and dislike out by doing something I know you both enjoy doing. You two could have some really amazing, angry sex."

My jaw drops lower, but Macy isn't as surprised by these words because her comeback is seamless and fluid. "Puh-leeze," she sneers, and my head turns toward her. Her eyes are still heated with anger, but her cheeks are stained pink. "Needle dick wouldn't even know where to put it. Besides, I'm pretty sure saints are lousy fucks."

Okay, you just insulted my fucking manhood and that, I can't let go.

I don't even give her the respect of looking at her but rather turn back to Matt. Jerking my thumb sideways at Macy, I tell him snidely, "She wouldn't know what to do with a cock like mine. But I know this... Ice Princess here is so frigid that I'm sure she'd freeze it off."

Macy actually lets out something like a shriek of outrage, but she does it low in her throat so only Matt and I can hear it.

"Oh man," Matt says as he stands up from the table with a laugh. "You two are really going for blood now. I suggest you wrap this up before Mac comes back. You know she hates you two fighting."

"You fucking started it," I grumble as Matt turns away from us and starts walking across the lawn toward the water.

Picking up my pint glass, I drain the rest of my beer and sit it down. I ignore the chicken and stand up from the table. Glancing down at Macy, who is still wearing anger all over her face, I tell her, "Well, I'd like to say this has been a pleasure, but you and I both know that's a lie."

"I don't know," Macy says sweetly. "I usually enjoy watching a moron such as yourself try to defend his own inadequacies."

"Which I'm sure isn't that difficult if you concentrate on just that one thing. I'm pretty sure your brain can handle something as simple as that," I tell her with a jovial smile before heading up toward the house. I'm going to go see if Aaron's up from his nap so I can play with him for a bit, then I'm going to head home.

Chapter 3

I think I may be lost, which could end up being a real travesty. Stuck in Macy Carrington's mansion with no way out, and then I'd have to suffer her presence further.

Since I don't have a handy GPS on me, I decide to navigate by using my gut instinct as I exit the large guest room where I just left Mac and her mother-in-law changing Aaron's diaper. I was able to play with the little man for a bit and joke around with Mac enough so I know I'm back on her good side.

Now that I've done my duty, shown up at this birthday party, and put my time in, I'm going to head home because this is just not really my scene.

I'm pretty sure I took a wrong turn out of the guest room because nothing seems familiar, but I do find a narrow staircase that looks like it might lead down into the kitchen below. I'm betting this is actually "the servant's" staircase, because the grand, sweeping one is only reserved for snots like Macy.

Snickering to myself over the insults I still continue to hurl at the woman even if she's not in my presence, I trot down the stairs. Even before reaching the landing at the bottom, I hear Macy's voice floating up. "Please remove all the caviar from the food tables now, and I expect it to be taken off the final bill. To say it was subpar would be a kindness on my part."

Her voice is commanding and chilly, and I imagine whatever poor fool is on the receiving end is probably hypothermic by now. As I step into the kitchen, I see a young woman in a serving outfit give a little bow toward Macy and mutter, "Yes, Miss Carrington. Right away," and then she's gone from the kitchen.

"Chastising the servants," I say with a knowing smirk. Macy's head snaps my way, and her eyes narrow.

"She's a caterer, not a servant," she grits out.

Shrugging carelessly, I walk up to her. Her blue eyes sizzle with electric menace at me. "Nope. Your tone of voice suggested servant. You really do have it down quite nicely... the way you're able to look down your nose at everyone."

"I most certainly don't look down my nose at everyone," she fumes.

"Most everyone," I concede as I lean in toward her, giving her a wink and a cheerful smile. While I may not know Macy all that well, I do know her well enough that she can't stand when I'm in a happy mood while baiting her.

"You're an asshole, Cal," she says tightly, her cheeks turning pink again.

"You're a drama queen, Macy," I mimic her tone.

"Little boy playing in a big man's world," she says with menace as she steps in toward me and jabs a finger in my chest.
