I pulled in a deep breath and blew it out. “Sorry. I guess I’m just nervous.”
Giving me a reassuring smile, she clapped her hands together and looked at Meagan. “So, now I understand that y’all currently live in Colorado, but you’re moving to Texas. Have you seen a doctor there yet?”
“No,” Meagan said as she reached for my hand. “I made an appointment but some things . . . well . . . they got in the way.”
Dr. Johnson held up her hands and flashed a toothy grin. “No worries at all. It looks by the date of your last period, you’re about ten weeks along. That would put your due date at November twelfth. That’s not a firm day; it’s what I like to call a best guess.”
“Of course,” Meagan said as she squeezed my hand.
Dr. Johnson stood and walked toward the door. Before opening it, she asked, “So, would the two of you like to see your baby?”
Meagan
“EXACTLY HOW LONG has he carried that picture in his hand?” Taylor asked.
With a grin, I said, “Ever since the doctor handed it to him. Then when Dad held it, I thought Gray was going to start stomping his feet to get it back.”
Taylor chuckled. “It is kind of sweet though how excited he is.”
Lifting my eyebrows, I let out a huff. “It was a much better reaction compared to when I first told him I was pregnant.”
“Oh no!” Taylor said as she started laughing harder. “Do I want to know?”
“No. You really don’t.”
As I rocked in the chair, I watched Grayson, my father, and Josh attempt to put together a swing set. Shaking my head, I looked at Taylor. “You don’t think they’re jinxing anything by putting that up do you?”
Taylor continued to watch the guys as they argued about wh
at step was next.
“Nah, I don’t think so. Besides, I’ve never been so entertained in my life! Plus, it doesn’t hurt your future husband is hotter than hell with a body to die for. Or the fact that he took his shirt off.”
Sinking my teeth down into my lip, I turned to look at Grayson. He was hot as hell; there was no doubt about that. No matter where we went, he snapped heads. And his body. Oh lord, his body. He ran every day no matter what and worked out four times a week, and his stamina was insane. I swear he could fuck me for hours and not break into a sweat.
“Dear lord, please stop thinking about whatever it is you’re thinking about. Oh God. I’m gonna gag!”
Taylor made a gagging sound as she leaned over in the chair and attempted not to get sick.
“What is wrong with you?”
“You! You and your sick love and awesome sex life. Blah!”
Remembering yesterday and what Taylor had said to me on top of the hill, I turned a bit more and faced her.
“So, tell me what’s going on in your life. You’re almost finished with school. Are you excited about your trip this summer?”
Taylor gave me a weak smile. “I guess so.”
“Talk to me Taylor, please don’t hold anything in. I see it all over your face that you need to talk to someone.”
Pulling in a deep breath, she pushed it out and smiled. “Do you remember when I ran into the guy from college in Durango?”
“Yes! The one you had the crush on.”
“Right. Well, I’m so confused because one minute he acts like he is interested in me and then it’s like I don’t even exist. I saw him at a party the other night and he flat out ignored me while he drank with his buddies and ended up leaving with some girl. I didn’t think it would bother me as much as it did.”
“Ugh. He’s one of those.”
