“Well, I didn’t wanna make a mistake and give it to your brother,” he laughed.
“Are you serious?”
“I said I wasn’t changing my mind. That’s your piece of cake. Your ring. And I’m your man. If you’ll have me.”
“Yes!” I said, squealing and throwing my arms around his neck. “Yes!”
He hugged me back and then kissed me. I buried my face in his neck afterward because I was teary-eyed thinking of everything we’d been through together and how he and my mom must’ve been planning this when she baked the cake and everything.
“I love you,” I said.
“You better. Because I’m gonna be your husband,” he said. “You sure?”
“Hell yeah I’m sure,” I said, grinning like a fool. I’d never been surer of anything.
