Joy (Hell's Handlers MC 7) - Page 63

“Five minutes ago.”

When he found Toni, he was gonna tan her ass so bad she’d be sleeping on her stomach for a fucking week. Probably nothing in comparison to what Copper was going to do to Shell when he found out his ol’ lady went charging off without telling him. While pregnant. With a new MC in town. With snow in the forecast. Yeah, that shit wasn’t gonna be pretty.

“Want me to go there?”

No, he wanted the guy to toss his cut on the ground so Zach could piss on it before after he found his woman. “Stick with Jazz. Cop and I will head there now.”

“Jazz says, don’t be too rough on them, Zach. Toni’s been a mess all morning worrying over Lindsey.”

He snorted. Sure. He knew that. He’d gotten home around six that morning, with just enough time to witness Toni in full-on stress mode before he drove her to work. Lindsey’s disappearing act had her in a tizzy like he’d never seen. Didn’t excuse her or Shell from making such a stupid and reckless decision. It was supposed to snow for fuck’s sake. Hard. Those campground roads hardly ever saw a plow.

“Fuck off, Tex. I’ll call Jazz when I find them. You better keep her ass safe unless you want to be eating your Christmas dinner through a straw.”

“Got it,” Tex said, sounding appropriately chastised.

“Fuck!” Zach shouted after hitting end.

His chest tightened, and his mind ran wild as horrifying scenarios bombarded him. Using every ounce of strength he had, he forced himself to keep his shit together and take a fucking breath. Memories of a time Toni had been in danger from a madman made him want to tear the clubhouse apart, but he fought the urge. Hard. She’d been a badass then, and he had to keep faith she could handle whatever she and Shell encountered.

Sprinting now, he hit the top step then ran to Copper’s door. After pounding five times without a response, he grabbed the door handle. “Fuck it.” With far too much force, Zach shoved the door open and burst into the room.

Copper slept on his stomach, wearing only a pair of black boxer briefs in the exact same position he’d fallen when Zach finally put him to bed about six hours ago. They guy would be hurting today for sure, but it was his own damn fault and didn’t matter for shit now that they had to get to the girls before they ended up stuck in two feet of snow at a deserted campground.

I’m gonna kill her.

Right after he fucked her into submission.

“Wake the fuck up, Prez,” Zach said as he flipped on the lights then pulled up the shades on the two windows in the president’s large room. Light flooded in, eliciting a groan from Copper. The man had to have a beast of a headache.

Before returning his attention to the prez, Zach spared a glance out the window.

Snow fell in a steady cascade of white already coating the ground.

Shit.

“The fuck, Z?” Copper grumbled as he struggled to sit at the edge of the bed. He had one hand on his head as he squinted his eyes against the harsh light.

“Cop, we gotta get the fuck outta here. Toni got a call from Lindsey, you know, the girl she’s been helping out?”

“Uh...yeah, I think so.” Copper nodded as he dragged a hand down his face. Bloodshot eyes met Zach’s gaze. His brain hadn’t quite caught on to the urgency in Zach’s tone.

“Well, Toni and Shell took off from the diner to pick her up at the campground. And it’s fucking snowing. Hard. Don’t know what this girl is into, but Toni thinks she’s been hanging or maybe living under that bridge where all sorts of nasty shit goes down. Have no idea what kinda state our women will find her in or if they’re equipped to handle it.”

Instantly awake, Copper jumped to his feet and yanked on the jeans he’d been wearing last night. He grabbed his phone then scowled at the screen. “Why the fuck didn’t they call?”

“Don’t know. Probably thought it was simple as picking the kid up and bringing her home. Plus, your woman probably wouldn’t call you right now if you were the last man on earth.”

“Fuck you.” The look Copper shot him would have scorched a man unaccustomed to the president’s ways.

“Last one. Promise.”

“Tex?”

“In the kitchen when they ran out. Probably jerking himself off to the sight of Ernesto cooking.”

“His ass is mine,” Copper growled, buckling his belt.

Normally, Zach would let Copper have it, but he might fight him for this one.

“Something ain’t right,” Copper said. He jerked a T-shirt over his head at the same time he stuffed his socked feet into his giant boots.

Falling serious once again, Zach said, “I know. Feels all wrong. How the hell did a thirteen-year-old girl get all the way to the campground, and why the fuck is she there in the first place? There ain’t shit up there this time of year. My gut’s fucking screaming over this.”
