He puts his hand over mine and holds it against his heart. “No, I mean now. Have you thought about marrying me?”
At first I’m shocked, but I try to laugh it off. “Is that a proposal because if so...”
I trail off because he moves around and puts his hand in his pocket. I stop what I’m saying and stare at him. He pulls a box from his pocket and holds it between us.
I point at it, still not believing that this is real. “What is that?”
He opens the lid and shows me the most beautiful princess cut diamond ring I’ve ever seen. “It’s your engagement ring. At least I hope so.” He looks into my eyes. “I love you, Ginger. I’ve loved you from the beginning, even when I tried to push you away. You won my heart, you won over my ma, and I can’t imagine my life without you in it. I bought this ring in the first week I met you. I knew then that you were the one. Will you marry me, Ginger? Will you be my queen? Make me the happiest man on earth.”
Tears are already rolling down my face. “Yes. Yes, I’ll marry you.”
“Thank God,” he says before kissing me breathless.
He pulls away and rests his forehead to mine. “I’ve almost asked you a thousand times these last few months, but it was that look in your eyes after David asked Honey that sealed the deal. You had a little look of hope, and it was shining brightly as you looked at me. It was only then that I felt there was hope you would say yes.”
I cuddle into his chest. “Anything you want, I’ll say yes to. I love you.”
He wraps his arms around me. “I love you more.”
