Sleeping with the Enemy (An Enemies to Lovers Collection) - Page 249

“Ah,” the doctor smiled, “there it is, right where it should be.” She printed out a picture for me and handed it to me. “It looks like you are nearly eleven weeks along.” The doctor smiled.

I took in everything she said on autopilot still trying to process everything that was happening.

Before I left, the doctor prescribed some vitamins and other pills for me and advised me on the doctors to go see before wishing me well.

I walked out of the doctor's office with my head reeling. I shoved the prescription and ultrasound picture into my purse. I needed to clear my head and think. I wasn’t stressed and there was probably nothing wrong with my thyroid. I’d put on weight because I was pregnant. All my bouts of sickness were because I was pregnant. I mulled it over and over again and again in my mind. This couldn’t be happening to me.

I was actually pregnant with Damon’s baby.

I don’t know how many times I’d walked around the small park I’d found myself in. I didn’t even realize the time until a worried Damon tracked me down. The look of worry on his face when he saw how pale and confused I was made me want to pull him down and kiss him.

“What is it?” Damon asked. “What did the doctor say?”

“It’s nothing,” I lied. I wasn’t ready to tell him or anyone else the truth yet. I was still trying to process the information and telling someone else would make it real.

“It’s going to get dark soon,” Damon smiled at me but I could see he was not convinced about me being fine. “Our guest house host has made us an awesome dinner and is bringing it up to our room since you are not feeling well.”

“Great.” I gave him a small smile. “I need a bath.” I stopped and looked up at him. “I don’t have any pajamas.”

“I took care of it while you were at the doctor’s,” Damon told me.

“Thank you.” Before I knew what I was doing, I leaned up and kissed him.

Damon went still, pulled away after a little while, and looked at me for a few seconds before pulling me to him and crushing his lips to mine. The world around us melted away as my arms tangled around his neck. A need bubbled up inside of me.

“Let’s go back to the room,” I drew back from him.

“Are you sure?” Damon asked me, still holding me in his arms.

“Yes,” I said softly.

Damon smiled, took my hand, and led me back to the hotel.

I felt a little let-down when we got back to the room and Damon stirred me towards the bathroom. He’d bought us both a toothbrush, toothpaste, and pajamas. My heart jolted at the gesture. I brushed my teeth and got into the hot shower. I was just about to wash my hair when the shower door opened.

I turned to see Damon standing there. Our eyes held as he slowly undressed. When he was naked, he stood looking at me. I reached out and took his hand. As he stepped into the shower, he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me against his wet naked body. His mouth came down on mine as he lifted me up onto his hips and our bodies joined. I forgot about all my worries and I forgot about my trip to the doctor as I lost myself in Damon’s passionate embrace and satisfied this intense desire I had for him.

CHAPTER 31

Damon

As the early morning sun tried to squeeze through any gap in the curtains it could find, I smiled as I felt Carla’s soft naked body pressed up against mine. Her head rested on my chest and her arm curled around me. My body instantly reacted as she moved her leg. Never had I felt such desire or explosive passion before.

Her body seemed even more perfect than it was before. She’d rounded out a little and her breasts seemed a lot fuller. I drew in a deep breath trying to quell my arousal as I thought about the previous night. I had been really annoyed at getting stuck in this little town and now I was in no hurry to leave. I wanted to stay right here in the bed with Carla, making love to her all day long.

This is how I wanted to wake up with her in Hawaii with her soft body curled up next to mine. I turned onto my side and gently rolled her over. She smiled in her sleep before flipping onto her other side. I smiled and bent over to kiss her on the cheek, ignoring a part of me that also wanted to say good morning to her. She needed to sleep a little longer. I was going to get out of bed to find out what time breakfast was when she turned again and reached for me.
