“I’ll be there tomorrow. Thank you so much,” I told him, and he told me to come to the same floor and ask for Tanya. I ended the call, happy about the job but even more so about the fact I’d be staying here. That way, I could see where this went with Celia.

I stood back up and walked out to the living room to see Mom and Celia sitting on the couch. “Guess who is now employed in the city of San Diego?” I asked as Mom jumped up to hug me. Celia smiled at me the entire time but remained sitting down.

“When your dad gets home, we’ll go have a big dinner out to celebrate. I’m so happy. When do you start?” Mom asked as we all sat down.

“I do the paperwork tomorrow and start in a week and a half. That gives me time to sow all my oats before I go back to the real world,” I winked as Celia gave me wide eyes, feeling like taking her hand to assure her I didn’t mean it like it sounded.

“How about you don’t? I want to see you settled down, Remy.” Mom said as I rolled my eyes. She’d probably be happy about Celia and me, but we needed to keep it a secret for now.

Brinley left and the three of us watched a new movie, making popcorn and sprawling all over the couch. I kept looking at Celia as she laughed at the funny parts, nibbling on popcorn. Her laugh lit up the room, and it took everything I had to wait for Mom to go to bed. I took Celia into my room and kissed her hungrily as she slipped her arms around my neck. We locked the door and hurried to strip before she was riding me, her body rocking over me as I watched her.

She rested against me when we were done, smiling. “I’m proud of you for getting the job.”

“Thanks. It’s a big relief for me. I know that I can stay here as long as I need to, but I’d like to get my own place down the line. I had a great loft in Seattle.” I told her as she frowned. “What?”

“I like you living here where I live,” she told me as she leaned in for another kiss.

“It won’t be anytime soon but when it is, you can come over. Stay the night where we can be alone together, and you can scream.” I kissed her again as she smiled.

“That sounds nice.” Celia sighed and closed her eyes. “I wish I could stay in here.”

“Me, too. It feels nice.” We fell quiet, and I listened for my sister to come home. It had been several hours since she left and if Celia wasn’t in there, it might raise suspicion. “Want to sit on the balcony?”

“Sure,” she replied as we dressed and threw open the door and took seats on the lounge chairs outside. She stared at the sky as we listened to the waves, able to hear inside the room. This was going to get complicated fast, and I reached for her hand as she smiled at me. I watched her fall asleep, settling back as I closed my own eyes.

Someone shook my arm, and I blinked as I looked around. “Why are you two sleeping out here?” Brinley asked as she looked down at me.

“We were watching a movie with Mom and came out here for some fresh air. I guess we both fell asleep,” I looked at Celia to see her curled up towards me, her hand dropped over the edge of the chair. I realized that she was reaching for me and pressed my lips together. “She looks so comfortable and she was tired today. I’ll get a blanket and leave her here since she’s safe.”

It was perfect. We wouldn’t be in my bed, but it was something. Brinley shook her head and shrugged. “I’ll get the blanket in your room. It’s a mess in here. Don’t you ever make your bed?”

“Not as much as I should,” I called out as she walked out with a throw blanket, tucking it over Celia.

“She really does look peaceful out here. Maybe I should try this.” She turned and left my room, closing the door as she left. I relaxed in my seat and looked at the stars as I thought about the new job, Celia, and where my life was going. Everything happened so fast prior to this and I didn’t expect to want something serious so soon. I closed my eyes and breathed in the ocean air, letting it lull me to sleep slowly.

I woke up to the sky slowly brightening and blinked as I looked at Celia. She was snoring softly, and I shivered as I looked around. I reached out to jostle her gently and Celia looked at me with sleepy eyes. “Did I fall asleep out here?”
