The Diamond Syndicate - Page 43

The second officer radioed in for an ambulance and then walked over to check on the woman in the other car. She wasn’t hurt.

The first officer went to check out the damage. “Well, sir, you’re lucky. It’s not that bad,” he said, bending over for a closer look.

“The hell it ain’t. They gonna have to replace the whole bumper!”

An hour later the man’s wife was carted off to the hospital, and the police had gotten all the information they needed from both drivers. Everyone began to clear the scene, and the police and the woman driver drove off. The man was the last to leave the scene.

Several minutes later he pulled into the parking lot of a supermarket and parked next to a car. He got out of his Caddy and got into the car.

“You are too funny,” the woman said.

“What? I had to play it like it was a real accident.” He smiled at the woman driver who’d hit the back of his car.

“Yeah, you played it all right. I think you overplayed. You don’t know how hard it was for me not to burst out laughing at your dumb ass.” The woman laughed.

The man laughed right along with her.

“No, but seriously, you was just supposed to tap my shit, and you really hit me.” He looked over at his car.

“Well, it was supposed to look like an accident, so I made it look like one. What you complaining for? We about to get paid.”

“Word up!” The man smiled.

Hit and Run

2001

Dante, along with Al-Malik and Pop, were handling all the responsibilities of finding car owners who wanted to get down on the hustle. It had been about a year and it was a smooth operation that Dante and his team executed flawlessly.

The money flowed quite lovely, and everybody involved was eating well. Al-Malik had purchased his first condominium and a whip. He didn’t have the time to stand on the corners anymore, and he had completely stopped selling drugs for Trey.

Trey wasn’t happy with the transition, but he had no other choice. Dante informed his mother of what was taking place, and she told Trey.

Today Diamond and Dante were moving into their newly purchased home in a quiet neighborhood. She had all of her boys help with the move. During the move, every time Trey and Al-Malik crossed paths, Trey would shoot daggers his way. Al-Malik was starting to feel uncomfortable.

While everyone sat in the house drinking, eating, and laughing, Al-Malik stepped out into the backyard. He stood there and looked at the peaceful surroundings. Not long after, Dante came out into the backyard to join him.

“What’s up, man? Why you out here by yourself?” Dante asked.

“I don’t feel comfortable in there.”

“Why? What’s up?”

“Yo, your boy on some shit right now. He grilling me down like I’m some bitch or something.”

“Who? Trey?”

“Yeah. It’s like, ever since I been down with you and getting mine, he been hatin’ on me.”

“Man, fuck that nigga!” Dante waved his hand. “He’s just jealous, that’s all.”

“Yeah, but that nigga getting his own loot. Why he gotta hate on me getting mine?”

“Because now he ain’t got no control over you. Do you remember when I told you how I always thought Trey was hating on how cool you and I are?”

Al-Malik nodded.
