Maceo (Filthy Rich Alphas) - Page 23

By the third day of Maceo’s absence, I began to despise him.

How dare he not come? Why would he not finish the true job he’d started?

Fuck the pipes in my club!

He’d triggered something in me and now I needed to see how it all played out.

What else could his tongue do?

I’d already experienced the madness that was Maceo once I exposed my hungry pussy to him, and he rubbed his entire face over my bare cunt.

He was a beast, a twisted lover. Wicked with each stroke, and always hungry for the warm taste of my pussy on his tongue and the thick pull of my flesh between his teeth.

My whole body hummed with the memory of him. It made work difficult, and fun times with my friends unbearable.

In those few moments with him, he’d changed me. I had no idea I’d been thirsty for more out of life until he gave me a sample. Blinded, I’d walked around earth, thinking one way, and now he’d yanked the blindfold off of my eyes, and forced me to see my own reality.

I yearned for more, and I hated him for it.

“Asshole,” I muttered under my breath and flipped the magazine to the other page. Usually, after a busy night, I would be pumped up on adrenaline and lying in bed with one of my hot strippers. Not tonight. I wasn’t even in the mood to play the mental games to get one between my sheets. “Fine. Don’t call or come by. I don’t need you.”

In front of me, Douglas leaned closer to Dylan. “Is she still talking to herself about Maceo?”

“Clearly.” Dylan finished cleaning the shot glasses. The bartender had a pregnant wife, who had gone into labor, so they’d volunteered to take over tonight. “I wish she would take that shit into her office, instead of bringing her depression to the bar.”

“What do you think happened?” Douglas asked.

“I don’t know.” Dylan shrugged. “Maceo probably hit it and then stopped calling. We may have to beat his ass.”

Douglas wiped off the bar’s surface on his side. “I’m down. Just let me know when and where.”

“Too bad.” Dylan shook his head. “I really liked him.”

“First of all, I can hear you both.” I looked up from my magazine. “Second of all, Maceo didn’t hit anything. We didn’t have sex, Dylan. In fact, he did the opposite. He asked me to have sex, but with the ultimatum that I don’t have sex with other people, and then he left like an asshole. A very overconfident asshole.”

“What was your answer?” Dylan asked.

“To what?”

“Him wanting you to only have sex with him,” Dylan said.

“My answer was no. It should’ve been go fuck yourself.”

Dylan laughed way more than he should have. “Why would you say no, sis? It’s not like you’re hooking up with a whole lot of people.”

“I like to keep my options open,” I said.

“You like to be difficult,” Dylan said.

“I don’t like to be chained down.”

Dylan and Douglas exchanged looks.

“What?” I closed my magazine and placed it in front of me.

“I think you have commitment issues. I’ve discussed it with Dylan,” Douglas said. “I read your horoscope today. For Sagittarius, it said you’re running away from something that you need. It almost always says that for you, by the way.”

“And did your horoscope tell you that you were a moron?” I asked.

“No. In fact, my horoscope said that love will walk through the door.” Douglas grinned.

In that moment, the door opened … but my friend Denise walked in. Not love. She wasn’t Douglas’s type; too high-strung and business-minded. Douglas’s life consisted of gym work outs and science fiction books that took him out of the real world. Denise dealt in facts and legalities. The only time she took time off was when she was sick and had no other choice.

Denise strolled to the bar. I could tell that she didn’t even realize I was present. She swung her hips way more than she did when we just hung together. Her gaze fell on Dylan for a long time, and then settled on Douglas as she formed her lips into a wicked grin.

“Hey, guys.” Her voice was music to my ears. A feminine song of a lioness on the hunt in the wild.

Alrighty.

“What are you doing here, Denise?” I asked.

I’d swear on everything that she froze in mid-step and did her best to get control of herself as she turned my way. “Oh hey, Christine. What’s up? What are you doing here?”

“What am I doing here?” I touched my chest. “Well, this is my bar.”

“Our bar,” Dylan corrected and winked at Denise.

I checked my phone. “Did I miss your call or something? Are you looking for me?”

Denise turned to the twins as if for an answer.

Okay. What’s going on here?

“Sometimes we open the bar up for Denise after hours.”
