The Sicilian's Bought Cinderella - Page 40

Their mouths found each other again for another deep fusion that this time Dante was the one to break. ‘I need to get rid of the condom,’ he told her.

Her arm didn’t relinquish its hold around his neck. ‘One more kiss.’

He obliged, then removed her arm and disentangled himself from the woman who had given him more pleasure in one short interlude than he had experienced in the whole of his lifetime.

He could hardly credit he still had all his clothes on. All they’d managed to strip off Aislin was her knickers.

Dio, she had been so wet and ready for him...

The legs he walked on to the bathroom felt as if they belonged to someone else. There was a heavy fuzziness in his limbs but also a fizzing he could not explain.

He stepped back into the room to find Aislin scrambling off the bed, as dishevelled a sight as he had ever seen. The hair that had been professionally smoothed and styled was all tousled, her make-up smudged, her lips plumper than ever, bruised from his kisses.

His only-just-sated loins twitched back into awareness.

Her mouth curved into a half-smile and her eyes found his, a wariness ringing from them. ‘Is this the point where we dissect what just happened?’

He leaned against the wall and folded his arms across his chest. ‘Do you want to dissect it?’

She shook her head quickly and covered her mouth. Her shoulders rose up and down a number of times.

‘Are you okay?’

She shook her head again, nodded then gave it another shake. She sat back on the bed. ‘I don’t know. To be honest, I feel

a little dazed. Did that really just happen?’

He laughed, not from humour but from his own incredulity at what had exploded between them. ‘Sì. It did.’

‘Dante...’

‘What?’ he asked.

She chewed on her lips and stared at the carpet.

He crossed the room and crouched down before her. Placing a finger under her chin to lift it, he stared into her eyes, trying to read what was in them.

Aislin swallowed hard, fighting the erratic beats of her heart, fighting the drumming in her head, but mostly fighting the crazy emotions whooshing through her body.

She had never known it could be like that.

She wanted to hook her arms around his neck, feel all those wonderful feelings for a second time and see if it was as mind-blowing as the first.

‘I don’t normally behave like that,’ she confessed.

Now that the fire between them had been, if not quenched, then at least dampened, good old-fashioned embarrassment was snaking its way through her.

They’d both been so desperate for Dante to be inside her they hadn’t even got round to taking their clothes off!

‘I never thought you did,’ he said gently. ‘And, even if you did, there is nothing wrong with it and nothing to be ashamed of. We’re both adults. We’re both single.’

She managed a bluster of laughter. ‘No, we’re not, we’re engaged.’

His returning smile didn’t quite meet his eyes. ‘Even less reason to be ashamed.’

‘I don’t want to be just another notch on your bedpost.’

His chest rose and he took a deep breath before sliding his hand around her neck and delving his fingers into her hair. ‘Aislin, you could never be a notch on a man’s bedpost.’
