Gray's Shadow (Kings of Hell MC 4) - Page 102

Beyond the comforting body resting its weight on Gray, was an insistent roaring sound, but Gray dismissed it, drunk on the taste of Shadow’s lips. He dug his heels into Shadow’s flesh and moaned when their groins rubbed together through their pants, close yet not quite close enough when the urge to inhabit one skin became too insistent to ignore.

Gray moaned in disappointment when Shadow looked up, ripping away some of the attention Gray craved. Like a spoiled brat, Gray pulled on Shadow’s hair to force him back down, but Shadow shook his head.

“Someone’s coming.”

When he voiced that, Gray heard footsteps too. Gasping for air, making lots of noise when darting through bushes, someone was running in their direction.

Thinking was far too difficult, so Gray took a deep breath and shouted. “Come any closer, and I’m going to blow your brains out!”

The person stopped, and Gray half-expected to hear them backing away, but instead, the intruder called out.

“It’s me, Gray! Elliot! They need you at the club! Has your phone died?”

Cogs were still jammed inside Gray’s head. “I… what? Why would they need me now? They’re away.”

“They were ambushed! They’re back, but Beast is hurt and getting patched up.”

To Gray’s misery, from the sound of it, Elliot was once again approaching, even if slower. How the hell was Gray to push Shadow off when his whole being screamed for the two of them being naked, sweaty, and connected in every way humanly and inhumanly possible?

“But… he’s fine?” Gray asked, briefly meeting Shadow’s gaze. Inside him was a fire that only Shadow could extinguish, but as Elliot’s words sank in, he reluctantly pushed the broad shoulders away.

This wasn’t who he was. He was a King of Hell, and he put his club first. Beast and him had grown up together, so why was it still so hard to get up and join his brothers?

Sense of duty won, but his whole body was fighting a scorch comparable to the burning beam that had crushed Gray’s arm.

“It’s hard to say. He’s been shot.”

When Elliot emerged from the darkness, an irrational rage overcame Gray even though Shadow was already getting up. Being unable to control his emotions felt like being drunk. He was trapped in a body drugged by pure lust for Shadow. Even now, it was hard to keep himself from reaching out for a touch, and he grabbed Shadow’s hand when he found out his legs were made of cotton balls.

“Fine, we’re going,” he said, scanning the blanket, just so that he wasn’t lost in Shadow’s gaze again.

He was confused. So fucking confused. Was this him or had Shadow changed him somehow? Whatever the blood bond did, Gray wouldn’t take it back, no matter how insane it was driving him that he and Shadow weren’t now two sweaty bodies grinding into each other.

He had more than enough self-control to survive this lust-filled agony.

Beast had been shot.

Responsibility was more important than the hot hand squeezing his.

Elliot raised his eyebrows. “Are we waiting for something?”

Gray shook his head, and walked toward Elliot, his jacket, wallet, and cell phone forgotten until Shadow picked them up on the way.

Each step bordered on painful, like a heavy workout that made your heart race until you were too confused to think or stand straight, but he trudged on, with Shadow supporting him gently on one side.

When had he leaned on Shadow? He didn’t even remember.

Elliot led the way toward the car. “Sooo… How was date night?”

Gray didn’t understand him at first, but when the truth finally penetrated his mind, he didn’t even have the brains to come up with a good comeback. “It’s private,” he said, not even bothering to go to his car. At this rate, he’d have crashed into the nearest tree.

Elliot raised his eyebrows when both Gray and Shadow sat in his car, but he wasn’t wasting time either. As soon as he was in the driver’s seat, he grabbed something off the dashboard and put it into his mouth.

“Hey! That was my donut!” Shadow leaned forward from the backseat, never breaking away from touching Gray.

Elliot looked over his shoulder. “No, Knight gave it to me,” he said with his mouth full.

Gray closed his eyes, dizzy with the searing heat. “Just drive.”

Chapter 19

The drive home was torture. Gray was so warm in Shadow’s arms, their skin was burning up from the contact, but neither of them wanted to let go either, stuck in the back of Elliot’s car, which still smelled of vanilla and strawberry glaze. But it wasn’t the leftover aroma of the stolen donut that agitated Shadow most. Gray’s scent seemed richer now, as if it had been spiced with a few drops of Shadow’s own essence, somehow making his warm flesh even more tempting.

They hardly spoke, until the tension became tangible in the cramped space, and the little shivers going up and down Gray’s body made Shadow desperate to soothe his human.
