I really hope not.
“Yes, yes, what’s her name… Lana Losers?” If it wasn’t bad enough to bring her up, Charlie said her name completely wrong. Who the fuck was Lah-na Losers? “That one. Everyone and their scrotums are talking about this bewitching she-devil of real estate.”
Ken twitched. “I think you mean Lay-na Low-siers.”
“Ah, yes, her. Have you met her at all?”
Oh, if only he could count the ways in which he had met his dear Lana. Ken had done quite well not letting anyone know that he was currently the man sheathing his cock into Lana’s tight abode on a daily basis. Now I have to cross my legs extra hard thinking about it. What a time to get a hard-on. But who could blame him? Lana was the kind of woman who sashayed into a man’s imagination without warning. She knows it, too. That made her an even more formidable woman.
“Yes, I’ve met her a few times. She’s hard to miss.” Nobody was a bombshell like Lana, even without the perfect hair, makeup, and outfits that made her stand out in any male-dominated crowd. “Why are you so interested in her?”
He soon wished he hadn’t asked that. “I hear she’s quite the beauty. David here says every man is falling over himself trying to get into bed with her, if you know what I mean.”
Ken was in a precarious situation. He couldn’t let Charlie see any of the jealousy currently swimming within, simmering, stewing, waiting for the perfect moment to burst from Ken’s throat and make it known that Lana Losers was his. Yeah, mine to lose. Things were going so well between them. Why did she have to leave in the morning? Would Ken get to at least make love to her one last time?
Nope. He couldn’t let Charlie in on any of this. As much as Ken wanted to swing his dick around like a caveman with his first ever hard-on, he had to remain professional for his sake and secretive for Lana’s. The last thing she needed was for her conference lover to kiss and tell.
Even if he really, really wanted to punch his boss in the face for even implying such a foul thing about Lana’s personal life.
“She is quite… fetching.” Ken would have to hope he both acknowledged Lana’s beauty and managed to not let his real attraction to her show. “And very intelligent. The few times I’ve spoken to her have been eye-opening. She didn’t get her title by accident.”
“No, I had my man Garrett take a look at her figures the moment I realized she was going to be a hot commodity on the employment market. The woman made two million more than the guy who got second place. And the young man who got second was selling much more valuable properties than she was. A woman doesn’t get there on accident.”
“I’m sure she’ll wander through this room soon enough.”
“Yeah, Dad, you’ll know it’s her and not another hotel guest because half the guys in the room will be following her like dogs.”
Ken glared at David. “Is there a point to all of this? Or did you come to participate in the hen-house gossip too, Charlie?”
“Come on, Ken, lighten the hell up.” Charlie leaned forward in his chair. “What I want is Lana Losers on my roster. Get a meeting with her tonight and make her an offer to join Lois & Bachman.”
David’s grin implied that he already knew about this scheme. Ken, on the other hand, flipped his binder shut and tossed it into the tote bag at his feet.
“What kind of offer am I to make, Charlie?”
“Ken, I don’t care if you have to eat her cunt to get her to take a one million dollar sign-on bonus and a starting salary of one-fifty a year. Get on your knees like a man and please that Mary Magdalene so she’ll move to New York for us and make us richer.”
The breath in Ken’s chest staled. Every time he tried to breathe, he was faced with some kind of clog in his throat. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“Why the hell not? Don’t you want the commissions that trickle up to you when your agents succeed?”
“Of course I do. I’m simply not convinced that Lana will mesh well with the team we currently have.”
“What are you talking about? They’ll love her! They’ll be taking her out for drinks the first Friday she works at our office!”
