Emily puts her hand on my chest. “I’ll be back.”
I nod, kissing her hand before she goes. Aiden, Treyton, and I all find a table and order a round of drinks. Instead of talking, though, we’re all watching our women out on the dance floor.
“So you and Emily huh?” Aiden asks.
I nod, still not taking my eyes off her.
“How’s that going to be for work?” Treyton asks.
I pull my eyes off Emily and turn to both of them. “She’s going to be my wife, so it’s going to be just fine.”
Aiden starts to laugh, but when he sees I’m not joking, he stops. “Does she know that?”
I nod, turning to look back at Emily. “She knows.”
She’s dancing, having a good time with Gracie and Katie. She laughs at something Katie says, and as if she can feel my gaze on her, she looks my way. Her smile gets even bigger, and my cock twitches in my jeans. I know I should have had her before we left the house. Now I’m on edge, ready to sink deep into her honey hole.
I don’t want to take my eyes off her, but there’s a loud commotion at the bar. Aiden, Treyton, and I all look as Carter, a rancher from the Yates’ ranch, pounds his fist on the bar. “Where is she, Malcolm?”
Malcolm points to the back of the room where Janie Bradshaw is dancing in the corner of the dance floor. It’s a fast song, but the person she’s dancing with obviously doesn’t care because he’s holding her like it’s a slow one. Everyone in the bar stops, and the only sound is the country song playing on the juke box.
Everyone watches as Carter strides toward Janie. “Get your hands off her, Pete.”
Pete puts his hands up and backs off. Carter is usually a smart, straightlaced, calm man, but the way he looks right now, I don’t know anyone that would want to mess with him.
Janie puts her hand on her hip. “Really, Carter? You can’t tell me who I can dance with.”
His jaw tightens, and his fists clench at his sides. “Oh yes, I can.”
The whole room is staring at them. Emily is looking at me, and I hate to see the nervous look on her face. She doesn’t know Carter, but I do. And I know he’d never hurt Janie. They’ve been the talk of the town this week. Janie belongs to Carter whether she realizes it or not.
I give Emily a reassuring smile, and she bites her lip, looking at them just as Janie points a finger in Carter’s chest. “You don’t want me. You just don’t want anyone else to have me. Well, I’m not playing that game anymore.”
“There’s no game, Janie. You’re mine. You have been mine since I first laid eyes on you.”
Janie opens her mouth to argue, but she doesn’t get a chance. Carter picks her up, swinging her over his shoulder. With a hand on her ass, he holds her in place and stalks out the door.
Emily comes straight for me. “Should we do something? Call the sheriff or something?”
I put my hand around Emily’s nape. “No. Carter won’t hurt her.”
“But…” she starts.
I shake my head. “You trust me?”
She nods.
“I wouldn’t just stand by and let a woman get hurt, honey. Trust me, Janie and Carter just need to work out a few things, that’s all.”
She looks at the door that they just went out, and the noise around us picks up again. The song on the jukebox changes, and a slow country song comes on.
“Dance with me?” I tell her, pulling her to the dance floor. I stop when we get on the other side to give us a little bit of privacy.
“You dance?” she asks.
I pull her in tight. “I’ll do anything if it means I get to hold you.”
“I like it when you hold me.” She rests her head on my chest, and we sway back and forth to the music. The song ends, and another fast song starts up.
She pulls back. “So... I’m thinking we go and talk with the guys for a little while and then you take me home. You do know you have a piercing to do.”
I shake my head. “Oh no, no piercing for you. Not right now.”
Her eyes round. “Why not?”
I cup her chin in my hand. “Because when I do it, we’ll have to let it heal. I can’t go two weeks without being inside you.”
She cocks her head to the side and looks at me. “Okay, so I guess that means you’re going to be giving me an orgasm every day, right?”
“Absolutely. It will be my pleasure.”
She looks at our friends, who are having a good time back at the table. “Come on. The sooner we do this, the sooner we can get home.”
