Quadruple Duty: All or Nothing - Page 22

Eventually we reached our destination, wherever that was. As always, Jason had prepared everything ahead of time. One of the benefits of precision military training was just that: precision.

“Until later,” I said, sliding out of his arms. Before I left his lap however, I gave the outline of his thick cock a promising squeeze. “But not too much later.”

I was helped from the car by a sharply-dressed valet, and ushered into one of the finest restaurants I’d seen in my life. Bottles of wine lined every wall. Old bottles. Expensive bottles. The rich aroma of fragrant bread and roasted meat was making my mouth water before we’d even been seated.

God, he’s hot.

He really was. Jason was almost as casual as Dakota most times, but when he cleaned up he really shined. Right now I was almost intimidated by the handsomeness of the man seated across from me. Captivated and even taken aback by the way he radiated both gorgeousness and power.

“Let me order for us?”

I smiled and placed my napkin in my lap. “As long as there’s red wine involved, I’m game.”

Jason took over from there, and we were waited on attentively. Small appetizing samples were brought out; a stunning array of beautiful colors and textures but almost nothing I recognized. Everything came on a tiny white spoon, presumably so I could shove the whole thing into my mouth in a single bite. Which of course I did.

“You don’t like any of it, do you?” Jason grinned.

I shook my head, trying to swallow. “No, no. Actually it’s all delicious!” I smirked and shrugged. “I just don’t know what the hell I’m eating.”

He signaled the waiter, and five minutes later a small platter was brought out. In the center was a large, smooth stone. Fanned around it were thin strips of beautifully marbled steak — all of them raw.

“Watch,” Jason smiled, picking up one of the pieces with the provided tongs. He laid it on the hot stone and it began to sizzle and cook. The aroma had my taste buds screaming almost immediately.

“Seems like a pretty expensive place to have to cook your own dinner,” I quipped.

Jason turned the piece over for a few seconds, then reached out and popped it into my mouth. It practically melted on my tongue, it was that good.

“Oh my God! What in the world—”

“Kobe beef.”

Delicately I chose another piece and began cooking it to a delicious medium rare. When we were done we ordered another one, and another bottle of wine.

“We’re not getting entrees are we?” I laughed.

“Probably not.”

“Fine by me.”

It was wonderful having him one on one, all to myself. I’d really been wanting to talk to him, to ask him about Di Spatia and how things were going. Since seizing the mercenary company from a corrupt ex-comrade, Jason had turned it into a thriving, multi-national force. Ryan and Kyle had both turned down re-enlistment to help build it out, although they still maintained their own independent Ranger contracts with the Army as well.

But for right now at least, Jason was more interested in me. He had me talking about the lot I’d just purchased — and the layout for the first of several new ‘modern vintage’ homes I’d ordered blueprints for. The term was an oxymoron that described things so perfectly, he suggested I trademark it.

We continued nibbling bits and pieces of what could’ve been dinner, and I found myself gushing about my new plans. Jason listened attentively the whole time.

“Enough about work,” I finally sighed. From the amused grin he wore I realized I was probably talking a mile a minute. “We’re supposed to be relaxing.”

He poured us both another glass of wine. “You mean you’re not relaxing?”

“Not until I’m out of these shoes.”

Dessert was sinfully decadent; some sort of triple-chocolate mousse drizzled with raspberry sauce and sprinkled with something so good it might as well have been prepared by the devil himself. We devoured it slowly, winding down. Enjoying the effects of the alcohol, and the building anticipation of getting each other’s clothes off.

Jason paid the bill and swept me outside, where the air was cool but not cold and the lights of the city were clear and beautiful. I held his hand as we took to the streets, letting him lead me in no particular direction. After a block or two I leaned into his shoulder, just feeling the closeness and the electricity between us.

“Grab a drink somewhere?”

I glanced down. My spiked black pumps made my calves look amazing, but they were probably a poor choice for walking the sidewalks.
