Reason and Kellan locked gazes and apparently their feisty vixen had a problem with that. She yanked the door open and undoubtedly planned to flee.

Kellan slammed it right back, apparently sharing Reason’s goals.

“You’re not going anywhere,” Kellan said. “Maybe you can run from your past but you’re not about to run away from the future and since I’m part of that future, I say when it starts and it begins right now.”

Everything made perfect sense now. Jade’s semi-awkwardness coupled with her quiet mannerism and her friendships with the younger crowd led Kellan to believe she’d clung to her past more than she realized but he’d also seen her bravery, too. She wanted to embrace a new life and apparently believed the lifestyle would help her in some way.

“I know what you’re thinking,” she began, watching Reason. “I’m not experienced.”

“I’m having difficulty with that, but not for the reasons you might imagine.” Reason paced in front of the coffee table.

“You think I don’t know what I want.”

“How could you?” Reason asked, seemingly disappointed.

“Jade, lie down on the bed,” Kellan said, his voice rough and stern.

She backed against the furniture without hesitation. The nervous young woman who had slept in his arms a few nights ago was nowhere to be found.

Jade clearly knew what she wanted. Kellan planned to give it to her.

Since Clink’s suite was often used by the club owners and VIPs, the linen closet housed a large selection of new toys and batteries. Kellan had already chosen a few favorites and had them all ready to go. “I’ll be right back.” He marched to the bathroom and chose the first toy. “What do you think you’re doing?” Reason asked, nodding at the plug. “Did you miss the part where she’s completely innocent?”

“You’re going to handcuff me?” She didn’t hesitate, which was telling. She backed against the pillows and stretched out on the bed, holding her arms up immediately.

She nodded excitedly and her enthusiasm was nearly his undoing. “Jade, if you’re ever scared or concerned, you can ask me anything or use your safe word.”

“I’ve read about safe words.”

He assumed as much. He’d seen quite the library at her house. “What’s your safe word?”

“Dark.”

“Why dark?” He didn’t always ask a sub to explain why they’d chosen a particular word but he was curious.

“Dark suggests something frightening, and anything painful frightens me.”

“The only pain I want you to experience is the kind that leads to pleasure.” He grabbed the keys from the handcuffs and stuck them in his pocket
