“Hmm…let’s make our own story,” he commands, crushing his mouth to mine.
Chapter Ten
Theo
My hands run through my hair. This is the third meeting I’ve had with the fire chief. This time, he and a detective from the Naperville police department were at my home. The news today only makes it worse. “I’m sorry to break it to you, Mr. Christakos, but Mr. Minks was spotted at the gas station filling gas containers just before the fire broke out.” I learned about it last night, but I didn’t want to tell Phoebe about it because she was so happy. “We apprehended him this morning. He’s claiming that you kidnapped his daughter.”
“I didn’t kidnap Phoebe. She’s my fiancée,” I argue. It’s not exactly the truth, but that’s not their business.
“Fiancée?” The fire chief’s brows raise questioningly.
“Yes. We met by chance, and I asked her to be my wife.” Technically, I didn’t ask. I ate her pussy until she told me what I wanted to hear. Then she came hard on my tongue, and I slid the ring on her finger, but that story isn’t meant for everyone’s ears.
“Can we speak to her? It’s not that I don’t believe you, but I must answer all inquiries of this magnitude.”
“Yes.” I step out of the room and call for my housekeeper who happened to be passing by.
“Is there something you need, sir?” she asks, taking a stack of towels to the first-floor bathroom. We don’t usually put them in there, but I like to fuck Phoebe everywhere, so we use that shower as well.
“I’m looking for Phoebe.”
“Um. I will get her.”
“Thank you. Tell her the detectives are here.”
Three minutes later, Phoebe knocks on the open door. “Come here, love.”
She looks a bit skittish, but I’m the one who could go to jail if she says I did abduct her.
“Hello, Ms. Minks. I’m Detective Marshall with the Naperville Police Department, and this is Fire Chief Morris from the Springfield Police Department.”
“Hello. How can I help you?” She’s bubbly, and as much as that works in my favor, it makes me want to pop them in the mouth for smiling back at her.
“It seems your father is making some accusations against Mr. Christakos.”
She rolls her eyes and waves one hand dismissively. “Whatever he says, it’s a lie. The man has lied to me since the day he showed up on my doorstep. The only thing he didn’t lie about was that he was the sperm donor that brought me into this world.”
“So the alleged kidnapping isn’t true?” Chief Morris asks.
With her brows knitted, her lips pursed, and her head tilted, she inquires, “Who did the sperm donor kidnap?” She acts so completely and intentionally confused that I have to hold back a laugh. She’s perfect. I love this woman with everything in me. Wow. I love her. I suppose I always did, but until this moment, I had no idea what that meant.
“Your father claims you were abducted by Mr. Christakos.”
“The douche nozzle is just mad that he didn’t get to use me as a bargaining tool with Theo. We’re happily in love. I’m looking forward to marrying Theo. In fact, I’ve hinted that we should go to Vegas to get it over and done with, but with all this fire business, I have to wait.” She never said anything about Vegas. I’d have flown us both out that night.
“Thank you, Ms. Minks. Good luck. We shouldn’t have to speak to you again on this matter, but if your father’s charged with a crime, we may need your testimony.”
“Fantastic. Let me know when and if you need me,” she adds with a pleasant grin.
“Gentlemen, if you’ll excuse us, I need to speak with my fiancée.”
“Great. If you could show us the way out…”
I hit my intercom and ask my men to meet them at the door and lead them to their vehicles. Once everyone leaves my office, I grab Phoebe, toss her over my shoulder, and rush up to our bedroom. I need her right now, and then I need to get us to Vegas.

It’s morning and a perfect day for a Vegas wedding. I have Phoebe selecting a gown along with Griselda, who is going to be her maid of honor while Diego acts as my best man. With no family left in America and no friends besides Diego, I don’t have anyone to invite. It works for us, and in twenty minutes, Phoebe will be forever mine. My security stands outside Phoebe’s door waiting for her because I’m not allowed to see her, and I sure as fuck am not going to leave her unprotected.
I pace back and forth, waiting for my future. The clock ticks by so slowly that I wonder if time has just stopped. “Theo, relax. Griselda just sent me a text.”
