“I feel that way, too. Trust me I want to kill men all the time, but I know you love me. It’s the only thing that stops me. Now that may change. I’m not going to apologize for being too protective and fuck completely territorial. Are you ready to find a new house?”
“Yes, Dane. We can start looking in the morning.”
“Okay, now let’s get some sleep, beauty.” He kisses me softly then pulls us to lay down with his arms holding me tight. I fall asleep on his strong chest just where I want to be.

Fuck, I wake up because my body doesn’t like me. I try to creep out of bed, but Dane is aware of every move I make. “What’s wrong?”
“I don’t feel good,” I mutter as I run to the bathroom. The vomiting is out of control, but Dane is at my side.
“Shit, I knew we should have gone to the doctor.”
“I’m fine. I’m still sick from yesterday. Hell, has it only been a day since I talked to you about being sick? It feels like a lifetime has passed.”
“I know. I think I have grays now.”
“I think you would look sexy with grays,” I say, standing upright.
“You’re not getting out of going to the doctor. In fact, we are getting ready right now.”
Chapter 12
Dane
“Pregnant? Like we’re going to have a baby?”
“Yes, Mr. Harris.”
“But what about her injuries? Is the baby okay?”
“Yes, thankfully at this stage the baby is about the size of a pea. It’s very well insulated at this point. Rest and eat what you can tolerate. I’ll give you a list of things to do for the next few weeks to deal with the sudden changes in your body. Congratulations,” she says, patting Brenda’s shoulder.
“Thank you,” we respond simultaneously.
“Are you crying, Dane?” Brenda asks as the doctor leaves the room.
“I am. Fuck, don’t tell anyone,” I tell her, dragging the back of my hand across my face to clean up the two tears I let out.
“I won’t,” she giggles with tears in her eyes as well.
“You’re having my baby. I thought this would never happen,” I confess.
“Me either. Kiss me, Dane.”
“Yes, little mama.” Her face brightens, and her smile turns into a wide grin. “Are you feeling okay to get dressed now?” I wag my brows at her. “I could examine you personally just like this if you’re still feeling unwell.”
“As much as I want to celebrate with you deep inside of me, this isn’t the place for it.”
“Are you sure? I could eat your sweet pussy and make you come hard and fast.” A rap at the door interrupts us.
“Damn you, Dane,” I grumble as the doctor comes in with a blush on her face.
“Here are the documents I told you about. Mr. Harris, sex in the room isn’t allowed. Besides this is a clinic and the walls aren’t that thick.”
“Pity,” he mutters. “Beauty, you need to get dressed so we can eat and take a nap. Some people around here are no fun.” I shake my head at him and jump off the table thing.
“Be careful, woman. You’re only like five-two.”
“Hahaha. I’m five-six. Whatever.”
“And you’re beautiful.”

We drove back to the worksite to tell Ben the news. I have to figure out what we’re going to do now. My plans to open up my own company are going to be put to the side until we can decide what we need to do.
The first thing I want Miller arrested and thrown in jail before he tries to come after Brenda. If he’s killed someone before there’s no doubt in my mind that he’ll try to stop her from testifying against him. I have to call the detectives and see if they’ve made any progress. I know that investigations can take a while, but he can be arrested once they have enough proof he was the one who abducted her.
“Dane, what are you thinking about? Your fists are clenched so hard I’m afraid you’ll break the steering wheel.
“About Miller. I want him arrested.”
“Me, too, but you know they have to have some proof.” And as if they knew we were talking about them my dash rings.
“Detective, good afternoon. Please tell me you have some good news.”
“We brought him in for questioning while executing a search warrant on his place. We didn’t get him to confess, but he had a treasure trove of photos of your apartment and of you Mrs. Harris. We have enough to charge him for stalking and breaking and entering. That will keep him locked up until we find more.”
“Thank you. That is some comfort. It would be a lot easier if he just confessed.”
“It would, but if he’s the serial predator we believe he is, then he’s not likely to confess. That’s all I had for you, but we may need you to come in for more questioning and the like when the time comes.”
