Boardroom Bride - Page 425

“You’re Kim’s brother,” she says, and I have no idea if that’s an affirmation or a question. Whatever.

“I can be whatever you want me to be. Except sober, that might take a few hours,” I tell her, downing the rest of my whisky. I have a pretty good buzz going on by now, which is good; if I have to suffer through a full evening of happy couples stone cold sober, I might develop a lifelong trauma.

She laughs at my joke, and her voice seems perfect for a few minutes of intense moaning. Getting Kim out of my mind is starting to look more and more like fun. You’re probably thinking that I’m such a fucking asshole for letting Kim’s friend hit on me (or am I the one hitting on her?), but this might be good for both of us.

“Cody,” I offer her my hand, and she takes it merrily. We exchange a glance as we shake hands, and the palm of her hand lingers against mine for the necessary amount of time for me to know that we’re on.

“Lisa,” she smiles back at me, and I can’t help but picture her naked and on all fours. I might enjoy a view like that. It wouldn’t be as good as it was with Kim, but I doubt I’ll ever have anything like that again. “It’s nice of you to come with Kim. Too bad I don’t have a hot stepbrother to serve as my date.”

She lays one hand on my knee, gently laughing, and there’s no need for more. A few witty comebacks and she’d be mine to do whatever I want. This shit is like mathematics, you apply the formula, you get the results. Thing is, as hot as Lisa might be, I’m not in the fucking mood.

All I can think about is Kim.

But I really need to make an effort to forget about her, so I force myself to grin at Lisa as her hand lingers on my leg. Her fingers are slowly hiking up my leg, and I’m starting to feel --

“Cody, I need to talk to you about something.” Kim’s voice cuts through the fog clouding my mind, and I turn around to face her.

She’s standing behind me, hands on her hips and a pissed off look on her face. What did I do now?

And then I notice the way she’s looking at Lisa.

Oh, Miss Jealousy, nice to see you.

Kim

“What the hell was that about?” I ask him, staring at him and tapping my foot against the floor.

“What?” he shrugs, looking as innocent as a guy caught red-handed.

“Don’t you what me! I saw the way Lisa was staring at you and… her hand was on your leg and…” What the hell am I saying? Am I really having this conversation with Cody? Yesterday I told him that we had to forget whatever happened between the two of us, and now here I am, acting all jealous. I sigh, and then look down at the floor. “I’m sorry, it’s not my place to--”

“I fucking love the way you look when you’re jealous,” Cody stops me from finishing my sentence, closing the distance between us and whispering into my ear. I can’t lie, his words make me go from angry to wet before you can even say “twelve-inches.”

“Let’s go home, Cody. Right now,” I find myself saying, the words tumbling out of my mouth in a rush. “I don’t want to share you with anyone else.”

“See? Now you’re talking, ‘sis.” He responds, taking his cellphone out from his pocket, and firing up the Uber app. Biting down on my lower lip, I turn on my heels and cross the room, going straight toward Alicia.

“I have to go,” I tell her, shifting my weight from one foot to the other. “Cody’s not… feeling so well,” I lie, but Alicia’s having none of it.

“Oh,” she starts, narrowing her eyes into slits as a devious grin takes shape on her lips. “Unwell. Are you going to nurse him back to health, then?” she teases me, reading the eagerness on my face.

“I might.”

“Then get the hell outta here,” she whispers at me, and I don’t need her to tell me that a second time. I go back to Cody and, arm-in-arm with him, leave the hotel ballroom Alicia and Derek booked for the party.

The Uber we called for is already waiting for us at the entrance. The doorman tips his hat with a queasy smile, probably taking us for a couple, and we get inside the car as fast as we can.

Even though the beach house is just ten minutes away from the hotel, the ride home feels like forever. I’m so anxious to be alone with Cody that I can barely breath. And this after I promised myself that I wouldn’t allow myself to succumb to him. Why are forbidden things always the best ones?

“Thank you,” Cody tips the driver as the black car halts to a stop in front of our beach house. I stumble out of the car, fishing for the keys inside my purse, but Cody just stops me. He dangles his own keys in front of my face and then winks at me, walking around the house and toward the back.

I follow after him and, since it’s already hard, I lose him from sight the moment he turns around the corner. I then see his silhouette against the gate that leads to the swimming pool in the back of the house, and then the gate creaks as it swings open. We both step into the outer patio, the swimming pool lights the only illumination in the place.

He comes up behind me, his hands on my thighs and his lips on my neck. A shiver goes up my spine as I remember how good it is to have his body pressing down on me.

“I want to fuck you right here,” he says and, even though I can’t see him, I know he has that devilish grin on his face.

“So what are you waiting for?” I ask, teasingly. As a reply, his hand goes around my waist and under the folds of my dress, his fingers sliding up my leg and resting exactly on the right spot. He presses there, pulling me into him; and, just like that, I’m a wet mess. Cody knows exactly which buttons to push and he sure as hell doesn’t hold back; he pulls my thong to the side, brushing his index finger over the wet lips of my pussy and resting it over my clit.
