“She could use the mental issue against me.”
“No, she can’t.”
“I guess I forgot to tell you who my mom was. She’s Lilith Holloway. Federal Judge Lilith Holloway. She has a lot of power.”
She watched them take everything in. God, she shouldn’t have said anything about her mom. Now they’ll be too afraid to help her.
Lacey tried to get off his lap. “Listen. I want to thank you for trying to help me, but I think it’s best if I go.”
Cason tightened his grip on her and shook his head. “You're not going anywhere, honey.”
“No, I have to. I just realized I could be putting you all in danger…”
Sienna snorted, and her daddy smiled.
“What?” Lacey asked in confusion.
“Sienna had something similar happen to her, and she kept trying to protect us.” Kane chuckled. “Tell her how that went for you, baby.”
Lacey watched Sienna glare at her man before she turned back to her. “As you can probably guess, I didn’t get very far.”
“But you didn’t have a judge after you.”
Sienna laughed. “No, I had a gang leader who was determined to make me his bitch.”
The other girls in the room giggled.
“Language,” Kane snapped.
Sienna pressed a kiss to his nose. “Sorry, Daddy.”
Kane snorted. “No, you’re not.”
Lacey smiled as she watched them. She could see the love they had for each other, and it made her envious.
She wanted to think she’d have her own family one day, but her life was too unstable to think about the future. She just needed to take things day by day.
