Honey
Waiting was my kryptonite. It drove me crazy, wedging the need further under my skin and willing me to take action, an action I would regret.
I was forced to watch as Kodiak and Ursus left and came back, smiles etched on their faces. These pleased smiles had never appeared before tonight. They were full of satisfaction. Little Bird had given them something no other had, and nothing would stop me from finding out what was so special about her.
I paced in the center of the room, irritating the others with my constant movement. Kodiak lounged on the couch as usual while Sonny finished his dinner in the kitchen. Ursus had returned from his shower and taken food to the other cabin for Grizzly and Averie.
Apparently, Little Bird took her time with her shower, turning it into a full on bath. Not that I could blame her. I was sure the others had put her through the ringer, and her body was full of aches that she had never experienced before.
As much as I despised my place in the line-up, this would work in my favor. If I had gone first, Little Bird would have been broken instead of cracked. Kodiak gave her a false sense of freedom and crushed the idea that there was a way to escape. Ursus enjoyed taking as much as he did giving, causing her to partake in the depravity of the night in a different way.
The two of them worked well together, just as Sonny and I did. They cracked her, I would break her into a million pieces, and Sonny would put her back together, but she would never be the old Averie again. No, she would be our Little Bird forever, joining the Grizzly Skulls as our personal sow that no other would ever enjoy.
She would be mine, ours. I had a feeling Grizzly would be partaking soon enough too. Averie was the one. She had to be.
My pacing ceased as the walkie talkie crackled. It was nearing three-thirty AM at this point. About damn time, I thought.
“Honey, you’re up. Sonny, get ready,” Grizzly ordered.
Show time, Little Bird. I can’t wait to see you spread your pretty wings.
