Listening to the birds outside was enough to wake me up. Cracking my eyes open, I didn’t have to look at the time to know that it was too early for me to be getting up. Laying there with my eyes closed, last night’s events resurfaced their way back through my mind. Groaning softly, I cringed at the memory of me confessing my frustrations to her.
I had originally planned on telling her in a calmer manner, but after hearing her concern about me just using her, I couldn’t stop myself. Then I ended up saying more than what was needed and ended up confessing to her. She probably thought I was crazy. I wouldn’t blame her if she didn’t want anything to do with me after all that last night.
Suddenly, my eyes snapped open. Sitting up, I looked next to me. The spot was currently occupied with her sleeping figure. My stiff body relaxed as I looked down at her. Seeing a chunk of hair resting on her face, I carefully reached over and pushed it to the side. I found myself smiling as I looked down at her.
She managed to look beautiful even when she was sleeping. How in the hell did I get lucky enough for her to even look my way? She didn’t even try to sneak away like last time. Did that mean that she really did feel the same?
Yawning softly, I pulled away from her and got up off of the bed as quietly as I could. Throwing on some shorts, I sent one glance back her way before leaving the room. Heading towards the kitchen, I squinted as even more light welcomed me. While I normally slept in, today would be different. I had a lot to do. Once I arrived, I began pulling out pots and pans, preparing breakfast. Pulling whatever ingredients I had on hand, I made what I could.
It was nearly forty minutes later when I heard movement in the house. Glancing towards her, I immediately sucked in a breath.
“Good morning,” she smiled as she approached me. “I hope you don’t mind, but I used your shower. Oh, and your shirt.” She looked down at herself, her hands patting the fabric. Below my shirt was bare skin down to her toes.
Stopping everything I was doing, I quickly walked over to her. Before she could say anything else, I wrapped my arms around her curved frame and pulled her close. Wasting no time, I captured her lips with my own, earning myself a cute moan from her sweet mouth. Pulling away, I grinned at her rosy colored cheeks. “Sorry, couldn’t help myself.” I let my eyes lower, lingering on her body. “You wear it better than I do.”
She pushed me away, clearly embarrassed by my compliments. “You’re full of it,” she laughed before looking around me. “You’re cooking breakfast? It’s almost three in the afternoon.”
Shrugging my shoulder, I forced my way away from her before returning to the stove. “I can’t tell you how much I’ve been wanting to cook breakfast for you. It’s about time I made that a reality.”
Going to make our plates, I grew more eager for her to try my cooking. It wasn’t a lie when I said I always wanted that. “Olivia says I make the best eggs, so be prepared to never want to eat someone else’s ever again. Not even your own,” I warned her, only half joking. Personally, I didn’t want anyone else cooking for her. I wanted that to be my job.
“I hope I am not disappointed then,” she teased before walking over towards the table only a few feet away. Taking a seat, I could feel her eyes on me, watching my every move.
“Have I disappointed you before?” I asked curiously as I carried over the two plates. Seeing her shake her head with a grin, I found myself with a matching one as well. “Didn’t think so,” I then sat down next to her, already going at my own meal. After all of the energy we used the night before, I was going to need this food to fuel me.
The silence between us lasted only for a few minutes. Once her plate was half-cleared, she turned her attention back to me. “Let’s go out,” she suddenly said.
Raising a brow, I checked the time. “Go where? I only have a few hours before I have to start getting ready for work.”
I noticed her face grow a deeper shade of crimson. “No, not like that.” She then cleared her throat, “I mean as a couple. Let’s go out. If you’re all right with that I mean.”
Feeling my brows raised, I realized the longer I stared at her, the more red she became. I found myself smiling without even thinking about it. “If I am alright with it?” I repeated the ludacris words. Looking away from her, I grabbed my phone. Speed dialing the bar, I met her eyes once more as I held the phone up to my ear. Casey was the person to pick up. “Hey, it’s Mason. Tell Bill I can’t make it in tonight. Personal reasons.” I told her as I noticed Janet’s brows raise in surprise. Hanging up the phone, I set it down. Bill would understand, I never called off.
“What was that for?” she asked incredulously.
Reaching over, I covered her hand with my own and gave it a squeeze. “You think after asking me something that big, I’m going to be able to put distance between us?”
She squeezed my hand, biting her lip. “Last night wasn’t too much?”
I shook my head, “I can’t seem to get enough of you. I don’t think I ever will.” So much for the food covering yesterday’s energy loss. Now, we were going to need it for later. Being alone together, I didn’t think it would be possible for us to stay apart. “Would you like to stay for another night?”
Her brows knitted together as she thought about it. “I need to feed my cat but after, I am all yours.”
Nodding my head, I couldn’t keep the smile off of my face. “Whether it’s your house or mine, as long as I’m with you, that’s all that matters,” I told her. I was pretty positive that I did love this woman. Even if it took her time to feel the same way, I was a very patient man. She was mine.
