He pulls back and cups my face with both hands. “I love you too.”
Now it’s my turn to look at him in shock. Never in a million years would I ever have thought I’d hear Sawyer say those words to anyone, let alone me. “Are you sure?” I ask.
He grins ear to ear. “No fucking way!”
I laugh. “Good! Me either!”
He laughs and smashes his mouth back to mine again, picks me up, and spins me around. I kick my feet back in the air in pure bliss. He sets me back down, and I smile at him. “I need to go talk to my dad.”
Sawyer cringes. “What are you going to tell him?”
I sigh. “I don’t know. How exactly are we doing this?”
Sawyer shrugs. “I don’t have any more experience than you do.”
I smirk back. “Well, since neither one of us knows what the fuck we’re doing, we can do this however we want.”
Sawyer grins. “Can I grab your ass at the office?”
I laugh. “Oh, so you want the office to know all our business then?”
He leans down and kisses my lips. “Fuck yes. All these fuckers can fuck off around you. It drives me crazy the way they swarm around you.”
I laugh and lean up and place a kiss on his lips. “As if, you’re the biggest cock blocker out there.”
He smiles. “Then tell me why I am still constantly fighting off all these different guys.”
I purse my lips to the side, trying to hide a smile. “Because you’re fucking hot when you’re jealous.”
Sawyer’s eyes heat looking back at me. “You fucking little brat. You were doing it on purpose?”
“Yup!” I say, and then I laugh and turn and run over to the elevator before he can stop me.
“You’re going to pay for that!” He calls out after me.
The elevator doors close, and I touch my fingers to my lips and smile. This is not the fucking way I thought today was going to go. I take a deep breath before I enter my dad’s office.
He looks up at me from his desk and gives me a half smile, still looking concerned. “So?” He asks.
“So.” I say as I sigh and plop down on the chair across from him.
My dad’s eyes sofen. “You know I just want what’s best for you right?”
“I love him, dad.” I say softly.
My dad blows out a breath. “I know. I figured that part out. That's why I left.”
I raise an eyebrow at him. “Oh?”
He leans forward and reaches across the desk and squeezes my hand. “I saw in your eyes that you weren’t sure about Sawyer, so at first I thought you were hesitant because of who he is, but then I realized it wasn’t him you were unsure of. It was yourself.”
“Myself?” I repeat back, confused.
He nods. “You were too scared to trust anyone. You have been ever since your mom left.” He sounds sad and looks down.
I squeeze his hand back to reassure him. “I don’t know if this is going to turn out good.”
My dad smiles back. “You never do. It’s what makes it so wonderful. After everything we’ve been through, I don’t for a second regret ever loving your mom.”
