The Personal Shopper - Page 38

Ava runs in between us. “What the hell Parker?”

She looks down at Chase. “Are you alright? Do you need us to take you to the hospital?”

Chase gets back up. “I’m fine.” His nose is bleeding, but it doesn’t look broken. Ava turns to me. “Can you go wait in the car please? Try not to get into any more fights on the way.” She glares at me. I don’t want to leave her here with Chase, but I don’t have much of a choice, so I walk away to the car.

Ten minutes later Ava comes out and gets in the car. She looks pissed. “Want to tell me what that was about?’

I look away from her. “No. Not really.”

She places her hand on my arm. “Parker…”

I turn back toward her. “Fine. He was being disrespectful, and he’s a little prick. He needed to get punched in the face.”

Ava actually lets out a small laugh. “Well, I don’t doubt that, but can we not start any more fist fights with employees? I had to spend the last 10 minutes convincing Chase it wasn’t a big deal, so he doesn’t do something dumb like press charges against you.”

I cringe. I know I messed up, but when he started talking about Ava like she was just another one of his girls. Like she isn’t the most special girl in the whole world. Like he would even be somewhat worthy to be in the same room as her.

“I’m sorry.” She just smiles at me. “No you’re not.”

I smile back. “Well not about the punching part, but for making you have to spend anymore time with that douche.” She just laughs. “Let’s go home before you get us into any more trouble.”

Chapter 12

Parker

The rest of the week feels like it drags on. Luckily, I am busy at work since we have to put together the new budget for the next event coming up next month, but every night when I am laying in my bed alone, I feel like I am going to go crazy.

Ava had to reschedule her meeting from Monday since we had to handle the whole Chase situation, so at least she hasn’t been home after work the past few days or I think I definitely would break my word to wait until after our date.

I made sure to have my doctor’s office email me my test results in case Ava really was going to ask about them. I’ve never had sex without a condom before, and I swear it’s all I can think about. Why did she have to bring that up? I’ve already been imaging being with her for years, and now it’s like I can barely contain myself.

3 o’clock rolls around, and I am not that busy since a lot of people leave early on Friday. Even if I was, I wouldn't be able to focus on my work right now. Not when all I can think about is being with Ava tonight.

I get up and head to Ava’s office. She is sitting at her desk with a pencil in her mouth looking at something on her computer. I knock on the open door frame, and she looks up at me. “Hey.”

I lean against the doorframe. “You ready to get out of here?”

She smiles up at me. “You getting a little anxious huh?”

I laugh. “What gave me away?”

She raises her brows at me. “Hmm...maybe had something to do with you pulling me into the supply closet yesterday.”

I grin back at her. “Hey, you’re the one who kept purposefully bending over my desk in that tight little skirt of yours.”

She laughs. “Uhm...no you kept pushing the papers over so that I was forced to bend over your desk.”

I laugh back at her and throw up my hands. “Guilty.”

She stands from her desk. “Okay. Let me just tell Shana I am taking off. Are we going straight out or do I need to change?”

I look over Ava’s outfit. “Let’s stop home first.’

She smiles at me. “Alright, let’s go.”
