I chanced a look at Levin, who was staring at her, a hard glint in his eyes.
When Dom didn’t say anything, she moved to Levin and stood in front of him.
“Do it,” she hissed at him. “You wanted me dead. So fucking do it.”
He glared down at her, not moving a muscle. She snarled and grabbed the nine tucked in his waistband and shoved it into his hand. With a sob, she fell to her knees in front of him.
“Kill me. You want me out of your life so bad, then fucking do it. Here's your chance. You know what hell awaits me if Dom’s dad gets me.”
My heart thudded hard as Levin raised the gun and pressed the barrel to her forehead. I scrambled to my feet, panic alive and well within me. I gaped at Dom, who watched the scene silent as midnight.
“You’d be doing us both a favor,” she choked out, her small body trembling as Levin scowled at her. “Please, Levin. Do it.”
Levin’s hand shook for a moment before he let his arm drop. “I’m not in the business of doing you any fucking favors,” he said in a quaking voice. “You wanna fucking die? Then kill yourself. Don’t look to me for help.”
She crumpled into herself, her shoulders sagging forward as she wept softly.
I started to step forward, but Dom shoved past me and scooped her into his arms, carrying her to the bed. He cradled her in his arms, whispering to her in Italian as he comforted her.
Seeing Dom give a shit like that was intense to watch. I knew him well enough to know he’d never been with a woman like he was with B. Hell, if anyone else had been on their knees begging for death, Dom would've taken the gun and shot them himself. Not with B though.
“I know you don’t want this, but I’m what you have. Getting on your knees and begging for death won’t fix anything,” he murmured as he raked his fingers through her blonde waves. “We’ll figure this out. I won’t let him touch you. I fucking swear to you I won’t let him harm you, mia regina.”
She sniffled and buried her head in his chest, her fingers twisted in the fabric of his shirt.
“Vincent,” he called out, not looking to me.
“Yeah?”
“There’s a bottle of pills in my medicine cabinet. Bring them to me.”
I hesitated a moment before going into the bathroom and grabbing the bottle out of his cabinet, hating the idea of him drugging B but knowing better than to say shit about it when he was clearly teetering on the edge of completely losing his shit.
“Here.” I grabbed a bottle of water as I stepped in front of Dom.
He held his hand out as I unscrewed the bottle and sprinkled a pill onto his palm.
“Open,” he commanded softly to B.
Her face was soaked with tears as she parted her lips for him. He placed the small pill on her tongue, and I tipped the water bottle against her lips. She swallowed the medicine down without question and rested her head against Dom’s chest again.
The room was silent. If I didn’t know Levin was still standing by the dresser I would've thought he’d left.
Within minutes, Dom was shifting B from his lap onto the pillows. She was completely out.
I watched as he gently adjusted her on the bed before he covered her. He stared down at her for a moment before he rose and marched to Levin. Dom snatched the gun from Levin's limp fingers and pressed it beneath Levin’s jaw. He didn’t flinch as they stared one another down.
“You’re really pissing me off today,” Dom snarled at him.
Levin said nothing as he swallowed.
I stared between them before glancing back at B to make sure she was still OK. She remained sleeping, her long, dark lashes resting on her cheeks. I swiveled my attention back to Levin and Dom.
“You ever do anything more than fucking smile at her, and I’ll shoot you,” Dom continued in a dangerous voice. “Get your shit together. We’re all fucking hurting here. Don’t make it worse by dying over it.” Dom pulled the gun away and slammed it against Levin’s chest. “Get the fuck out of here and have a better attitude tomorrow.”
Dom stepped away from Levin and went back to B’s side.
“I need to meet with Stella. Vincent, stay with Bianca while I’m gone.”
“Sure,” I said.
He leaned down and pressed a kiss to her forehead. “Call me if you need anything.”
Levin hadn’t moved an inch. He simply stood there staring at B in bed.
“Levin. Out,” Dom snapped, straightening and moving toward the door. He jerked it open.
Levin pushed off the dresser and left without a backward glance.
“Talk to him, man,” I said softly. “You’re right. We’re all hurting here.”
Dom sighed and shut the door without another word, leaving me alone with B. I let out my own sigh, took my jacket off, and placed it on the chair before crawling in bed beside B.
I pushed a strand of her hair away from her face before whispering, “I love you to pieces, baby B. Don’t worry. We’ll figure this out. I swear it, or I’ll kill everyone my damn self.”
And I would. Without. A. Fucking. Doubt. I would.
