Chapter Ten
“I don’t what the hell that was just now, but sweetheart, he’s a god damn fool and not worth your tears.”
I slide down his front and admit it’s nice to know that he’s turned on by me if the thick outline in his jeans is anything to go by. “How about you? You can’t tell me you aren’t hung up on a woman you can’t have.”
“The fuck do you know about it?”
“I know enough.” I take him in. Viking is tall, broad, and tattooed like a freaking warrior from days gone past. Like he stepped out of a history book. The true epitome of his road name.
“Shit. Shouldn’t you be in school or something? What the hell are you doing here?”
I shake my head. “It’s not important.”
“Must’a been for you to skip school and sneak into the clubhouse to see the fuckwad of a prospect. You didn’t ask for my advice but I’m going to give it to you anyway. You’re young and fucking gorgeous. Any man would be fucking lucky for you to pull that move you just pulled on me. Don’t let that shitstain get you all twisted up in knots because he’s not ready for what you bring to the table. You got your whole life ahead of you. Shit. I’ve seen your work. You’re fuckin’ talented. I think you could make a career out of taking pictures the way you do. I’ve not saw such raw talent before in my life. You should really think about submitting to magazines or something.”
“You think my photos are that good?”
“I’m not pulling your leg. Tell you what. To prove it, I’ll take you by the gym and you can hangout and take pictures. I like what I see. I’ll buy them to display on the walls. Place could use some personalization.”
“Seriously?”
“Hell yeah. I owe you.”
“For what?”
The whiskers of his beard twitch as he grins big at me. “That kiss, K. Gotta tell you. You weren’t Link’s niece, and I wasn’t me, I’d already have you in a room doing things I shouldn’t be thinking about doing with you.”
“Who says you shouldn’t?”
“Fuck. Now you’re flirting with me.” He clutches his chest. “Can’t take it, babe. So god damn sweet you make my teeth ache. C’mon before I change my mind.”
I follow him downstairs to where my Uncle Link is seated at the bar smoking a joint.
Shit.
I’m dead.
I’m worse than dead if there is such a thing.
He’s going to kill me then bring me back to life so he can kill me all over again. Then he’s going to give my mother and possibly Pam a turn too.
His gaze lands on me and I’m afraid he’s going to yank his belt off and tan my hide right here in front of the other brothers who happen to be hanging around. Link is big and mean. He’s scary when he’s pissed.
“Just who we’re looking for.” Viking steps in and I don’t protest. I just go with it. If he wants to save my ass, I’m gonna let him. Like he said he owes me for that hot kiss. It was epic. Romance novel worthy. Too bad I didn’t get a crush on him first.
“I’m listening.” My uncle stares at me as though he is drilling holes into my skin with his eyes.
“Kimber needs a ride to school.” Viking pushes me forward and takes off. Ugh. Jerk. He left me hanging.
“Let’s go. Ass. My vehicle now. Then you can explain while I get you to school.”
I groan inwardly but I don’t argue. I march straight out the door. He’s going to tell my mother and it’s going to be a thing. Ugh. Why did I come here?
I climb in the passenger seat and get my seat belt on. My cell phone buzzes with a text.
Unknown:I’m erasing the cameras for both our sakes. Hope you got a good story. Later. -V
How did he get my number so fast?
Kimber:I’ll think of something.
Unknown:better think fast he’s coming in hot. -V
Ugh. Man. What am I going to say?
