EPILOGUE
By some miracle, Maddox convinced her mother that a big society celebration after a small wedding would make all her dreams come true.
So, the wedding itself only consisted of their immediate family and a handful of friends. It was hardly what Mila considered eloping–she still wore a custom gown, so the event took planning. But they married in Canouan at Mila’s request. And then they toured the Caribbean–on the yacht. Maddox agreed it was a shame it took him so long.
After honeymooning in the Caribbean, they returned to San Francisco while her mother handled planning the blowout society celebration.
And it was a blowout. Her mother outdid herself.
Everyone Mila had never considered inviting–or ever seen–was there. She was relieved to see some familiar faces, including Nikki and JB.
Jackson was invited again since her mother had no clue about him, and he showed up with a new, rich girlfriend. It suited him perfectly.
Shortly after the celebration, Nikki invited them to their home in Provence. Maddox mentioned buying a house closer to his sister so they could visit more easily, and Mila wouldn’t protest for several reasons.
For one, Mila knew eventually they would welcome their own child and she wanted him or her to be close to his aunt and cousin.
All that time ago, Danny had been right that Maddox had a legacy to preserve. But it was no longer a daunting prospect. Mila was just happy she would be a part of it and not someone else.
Now, it seemed foolish to both of them that they’d ever broken up in the first place. And Mila had trouble understanding why she’d ever thought Jackson was a suitable replacement. But the past was in the past. She and Maddox were looking to the future.
