Callie
It may be pathetic, but I keep checking my phone for a DM from Evan since he never did get my number.
I refuse to get self-conscious and think I’m being blown off by Evan Adler. I will not think that—or even that he didn’t enjoy himself. I saw his face, and I know when it’s good. And my God, it was fantastic. I didn’t expect to want to drown in his kisses, but I do. His lips are so soft, so sweet. His arms, they swallow me whole. And his hands, Lord…they are magic. No wonder he is known for having quick hands on the ice; they know how to move and how to hold in all the right places. And I won’t even get started on his dick. There aren’t enough words in the English language to cover that gift from God. There needs to be a bigger word than hung.
That’s all I’ve got to say about that.
It may have been quick and we didn’t get to explore each other, but that’s what round two is for. Our round two has been delayed because of phone calls from his family, and I’m okay with that. I’m a family gal, and if my sister were having another baby, I’d postpone sex with him. Not as long as he has postponed me, but maybe he got tied up in something. He’s not a bad dude. He’s good. He’s Nico-good, like Aviva says. I fully believe that. I do not think he is blowing me off.
Okay, maybe a really small part of me does, but I’m ignoring that part.
My classes basically crawl along, and I’m anxious to get out of here and to the gym where I know he is. Or so I expect. When I get there, he isn’t in the office and my stomach starts to turn, but I will not accept the obvious. After I change, I sit down to stretch as Cameron sits beside me on a foam roller, rolling her back.
“He hasn’t called?”
“He doesn’t have my number,” I say sullenly.
“Where is he?”
“I don’t know, Cam,” I say, more aggressively than I intend. “I’m sorry. I’m just fucking annoyed.”
“For good reason. I really didn’t see this happening.”
“Me either,” I admit, feeling stupid and small. “Should I DM him? Or does that make me look pathetic?”
She cringes and I know the answer, so I refrain. I know I could text Aviva and she’d get me his number, but I feel like that would be tiptoeing into crazy chick. Don’t get me wrong. The dick was A-plus perfect, but not enough to make me act in a stalkerish way. I lean back on the floor, stretching my hammy, as everyone comes in.
“Hey! Did y’all know the police showed up after we were kicked out?” Shantae yells toward us.
My brows come in, and Cameron matches me as she says, “What? Why?”
“You know Jessika Mullians on the softball team? Plays second base?”
No, I don’t, but apparently Cameron does. “Yeah. She’s in a few of my classes.”
“She turned in that really dorky, skinny kid, the new freshman—he hit on Maeann?” Shantae says, and once more, Cameron is in the know. I must have been busy. With the guy who is currently blowing me off.
“What was his name? Mae, was it Jackson?”
Mae nods, throwing her bag down. “Yeah, he isn’t my type, but I didn’t take him for an asshole. Like, I told him I wasn’t interested, and he was like, ‘No problem. You should just know you’re gorgeous.’”
How nice.
“Like, I felt bad for rejecting him. But Jessika is saying he grabbed her butt, and when she said for him to stop, he did, but he called her a bitch.”
“Ew, that’s gross,” I say, shaking my head.
“But!” Mae says, holding her hand up. “Her best friend said it didn’t happen like that. She says that Jackson threw his hands up and apologized, but Jessika was so drunk that she wasn’t thinking clearly.”
“Cheese and rice,” I say, shaking my head. “That’s a freaking mess.”
“For real,” Shantae agrees. “Apparently the house is on lockdown, and Jackson is on probation until everything is decided.”
“Sucks for him and for her. But can I just say, I appreciate how our school is handling this? Even if it turns out to be only a miscommunication, it’s nice to know they aren’t playing around,” Cameron says, standing up, and everyone nods, proud to be a part of this school. We all had many options, but something about Bellevue lured us in.
“For real, for real. But word is, Smexy RA is the one who dropped the hammer. He put everyone on lockdown and even ripped Jackson a new one because he shouldn’t be assuming people want him to grab their asses.”
See, Evan can’t be blowing me off. He’s a damn outstanding gentleman!
“I’m not surprised. Smexy RA doesn’t play either. He has all of them on leashes. He’s so hot…” Mae says fondly. “Though, rumor is, Callie was in his room last night.”
All eyes fall on me, and Cameron laughs. Then she says, “Yeah, getting snacks. Who has a party and doesn’t have food?”
“No shit. I may look damn good, but I want some food,” Shantae adds, and everyone forgets that I was in his room to agree with her. “What kind of snacks did he have? A huge beef stick?”
I snort as everyone laughs. Yes. Yes, he did, but I don’t say that. “No. But loads of Goldfish.”
Shelby grins. “Aw, your favorite. You two are made for each other.”
I roll my eyes as Coach comes in with two female athletic trainers. I know one of them from last year, and my stomach promptly drops out of my ass. “Bull ladies.” I hate that he calls us that. We all stand as he jerks his thumb behind him and says, “As you can see, this is not Evan Adler. Evan is working with the hockey team since they can’t get their shit together.” When most of us groan, he glares. “Please, tell me how you really feel, and don’t be welcoming at all.”
We quickly shut up, and I press my lips together, completely disappointed.
