I Plan on Forever (I Never 2.50) - Page 3

Dani looks up at me and tilts her head back as I dip my head down, brushing my lips against hers. She allows my tongue to slip into her mouth and gently massages mine with hers. This woman completely consumes me, and I could kiss her forever. After tomorrow, I will. I spin her in my arms so we are now facing each other. Dani clings to my shirt as we stand in our bathroom, making out. I slide my hands down over her ass and pull her closer to me, lifting her onto the countertop. She jolts at the cold porcelain against her bare skin but continues kissing me. I am ready to unzip my pants and slide her panties to the side. Instead, she releases my shirt and pushes my chest back again.

“Okay. Okay. Stop distracting me and get out of here before I make a complete mess of my makeup and have to redo it. Then we will definitely be late.”

I go in for one last quick peck before turning around to leave her to finish getting ready.

Once I’m in the bedroom, I hear her yell, “Don’t forget your tie!”

Ahh, yes. Tonight, we have the wedding rehearsal itself, although I still don’t understand why we have to practice saying “I do.” Then we are having a nice dinner down by the water, where we will say our last goodbyes before we say I do tomorrow. Dani will be staying at Haylee and Zach’s house tonight while Zach stays here. It will be just like old times with my roommate—although more like back in our college days, pre-girlfriends and kids. If you had told me all those years ago that he and I would be about to become brothers-in-law and he a father, we both probably never would have believed it.

“Oh, I spoke with Aria not long ago, and they are stuck in traffic. They don’t think they’ll make it to the rehearsal but are trying,” Dani tells me.

“I can only imagine being stuck in traffic on 95 with all of them in on one car.”

I stand in front of my side of the closet and hold two ties in my hand, trying to decide when I hear the clicking of Dani’s heels on the hardwood floor. I spin around and hold the two choices up.

“Which do you like better?”

Her mouth twists to the side, one of the cute expressions she has when she’s thinking. “Go with the red one.”

My mouth turns up in a smile. “So, we’re going to be that matchy-matchy couple, huh?”

She nods dramatically. “Hell yes, we are. Would you expect anything less?”

I drape the red tie around my neck, adjusting my collar, and walk over to the mirror to tie it while she walks toward the closet and grabs the red sleeveless dress from the hanger.

“Nope, I wouldn’t dare dream of it.”

I don’t have to look at her face to know she is rolling her eyes. In the mirror, I watch her step into the red silk dress and shimmy it over her hips, suddenly saddened by the loss of seeing her ass but now loving the view of the way the material clings to her curves.

I clear my throat, trying to force myself to focus and tie my tie.

“Psstttt.”

I look up in the mirror and see Dani now staring at me, her blue eyes boring into my soul.

“If you’re done staring and fantasizing, can you come zipper this dress so that we can go?”

“Aye, aye, boss.” I wink in the mirror and head toward her. I slowly zip up the dress and spin her in my arms. “I love you so much, Danielle Jacobs. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me.”

Her smile shines brightly, and her eyes fill with unshed tears. “I love you too.”

I press my lips against her forehead and let them linger on her skin as I close my eyes and breathe her in. The moment is broken when my phone begins to play the sound of a motorcycle engine revving, which is the annoying ringtone Zach set on my phone as his caller ID. I groan and grab my phone off the bed.

Before I get the chance to say hello, my best friend’s voice bellows through. “Stop doing whatever it is you were doing and hit the road. We’re all on our way to the church, so get your ass moving.”

I can’t hide my laughter at his dad tone—like he will actually ever use that tone with Emme. That little girl has him wrapped around her tiny fingers.

“As much as I’d love to continue this, we should get on the road,” I say.

Dani rubs her finger along her lips in the mirror, and I want nothing more than to taste them.

“Ha,” she laughs. “Let me guess. That was my brother, and he yelled at you.”

“Damn, baby, I’m not sure who you know better—him or me?”

She saunters over to me and wraps her arms around her neck. “Definitely you. Come on, let’s go.”
