Eyebrows cinched, I warily accept it. I can only assume it’s something from Rowan.
“Well, go ahead and open it,” she encourages.
“Okay...” I glance at her suspiciously while I open the envelope. “I don’t understand,” I tell her, staring down at a check with a lot of zeros.
If it’s possible, Devlin’s smile gets even colder. “That, Grace,” she points at the check, “is for you to pack your things and disappear from Rowan’s life.”
The shock of her words hits me so hard that I take a step back.
