“I will,” she said with a sniffle.
“I’ll meet you at the house,” he said.
He stepped into the stirrups and threw his leg over his saddle. Grabbing the reins, he rode off.
“Come on, let’s get out of here before that grizzly decides to return,” Martin said, taking her by the hand. He pulled her up in front of him onto his saddle and then they rode out of the falls.
Sweetie was munching grass waiting on them. Martin took her reins and tied her to the back of his horse.
“I want to hold you in my arms. I’ve been so afraid that I was going to lose you this afternoon.”
Blanche shook her head. “I would die trying to return to my husbands.”
