I must have fallen asleep as well. I woke up to Kit climbing onto my lap and wrapping his arms around my neck. He kissed my neck over and over.
Shit. I hadn’t provided him aftercare.
“Kit?” I cupped his back and rubbed. “I’m sorry.”
“What for?”
“I fell asleep. Didn’t help you out of your kitty headspace.”
He smiled and kissed my cheek. “It’s okay. You were tired. You’ve been working a lot lately.”
“Yeah, but—”
“No buts. You’ve done so much already, Sully. I’m not going to flip because you fell asleep after I did.”
“A good Master would have stayed awake.”
“You’re the only Master I need.” He finger-combed my hair, the look on his face disconcerting.
“What’s bothering you?” I tightened my arms around him. He wasn’t having second thoughts about being in a relationship with me, was he? “Kit, tell me.”
“I’m just so happy with you.”
I let out the breath I’d been holding. “For a second, I thought you’d come to your senses that being with me was too dangerous.”
He wrinkled his nose. “The danger makes everything more exciting, but I’m afraid I’ll never come to my senses where that’s concerned.” He frowned. “Somehow that sounded better in my head, but you know what I mean, right?”
I laughed. “I do. Then what’s bothering you?”
“Nothing.” He stroked a hand down my neck…my very sensitive neck. “I went to Kitty Krave today. Now don’t be mad, but I withdrew every cent out of my account to save the café.”
“You did?”
He nodded. “And to my surprise, I found out that my too generous boyfriend bought me the place.”
I fell silent. Of course, I’d planned to tell him, but I hadn’t known how to approach the subject. Buying him jewelry, clothes, and food was ordinary. A cat café was different—sentimental.
“What made you buy me Kitty Krave, Sully?”
“Because you love that place. I saw how upset you were when you found out that it would be closed. I need my Kit-Kat to be happy. Understand? And if there’s anything that makes you sad, it’s up to me to find a solution. I did.”
He pressed his lips hard to mine but pulled back before I could kiss him properly. “You’re crazy, Sullivan Matthews.”
“It’s true.” I sighed. “I’m still logical about many things, but when it comes to you, Kit, I’m crazy. Crazy about you. Do you know how rare it is for someone to enter my life and have the impact you do?”
He smiled slyly. “Is the gay sex that good?”
“Yeah, it is, but that’s not just it. I could get gay sex from other guys, but—”
“You’d better not.”
“You never have to worry about that.” I stroked the side of his face. “But like I was saying, it’s not the sex, Kit. It’s you. Everything feels right because it’s you.”
