“I know things about you. I know how weak you are, how you took it up the ass like a good boy, how you’re cheating on me!”
“Don’t care,” he said, his face blanched. He did care but stood strong. I was proud of him, even if the affair shocked me. But that was something for another day.
“You have one hour to get your personal shit and get out,” he said. “Everything else will be packed up and mailed to wherever you’re staying. I suggest it not be Cherish Cove.”
No one helped her awkwardly clamor to her feet and she stomped out of the office. I had zero doubt she’d continue to be a storm cloud threatening this family, but for now, she left.
“You’re having an affair?” Mars asked.
Martin shrugged. “She patches me up. Makes me feel human.”
My man’s hand landed on my shoulder. “I understand that.”
“Son… I’m sorry. More sorry than you’ll ever know about your…uncle. So sorry I wasn’t a stronger man. She threatened to take you away from here, take you someplace I didn’t know. I thought I was keeping you safe. Then I thought you were safe…”
His eyes turned glassy.
“I’m sorry.”
Mars came around me an hugged him. “We’ll be alright dad. We’re going to be okay.”
I placed my hand on his back, giving him my strength and telling him the same thing. We would all be okay. When Bare’s hand landed next to mine, I knew he was saying the same.
