“Ugh, you are so frustrating.”
“He wants me to find you and tell you that he needs you to pick up the kids.”
Her eyes bulge out of her head. “Oh my god, I am such a terrible sister. What am I going to say to him?”
I snicker. “That’s your problem.” I lean back against the headboard and rest my hands behind my head, rather enjoying her frantic show.
“Could I have just been at the bar?”
I tilt my head side to side. “Might work.”
“Well I don’t have a car. I need you to bring me to the hospital.”
She rushes out of the room and I shake my head. No idea what she is up to. I slowly pull on some clothes and walk out to the kitchen and find her guzzling booze.
I pull the bottle from her. “I think that’s enough. You didn’t know she was going to go into labor tonight and it’s not like you aren’t allowed to leave the house.”
“Yeah, but he knows I’ve been sneaking out.”
“It’s not sneaking if you are an adult. And FYI, you are an adult.” I set the bottle down on the kitchen island. “I’ll take you to the hospital. I’ll say I got a hold of you and picked you up.”
She buries her hands in her face. “This is so embarrassing.”
I pull her into me. “No it’s not.”
“For you!”
“Yep, I know. I can’t wait to see Owen hound you for answers.”
“Ugh, please, I don’t even want to think about it.”
I drop my lips to her neck. “I could give you a hickey. Make him believe you were out hooking up with some random guy that doesn’t know how to fuck you.”
“You’re such a dick.” She pushes away from me. “Besides, if that were the case, then I would have his sorry ass drive me to the hospital. So it makes much more sense that I was out drinking. It’s just after one. And now I smell like booze.” I watch her as she trudges over to the door. “So thank you for picking me up from the bar.”
I laugh at her and meet her at the door, grabbing my keys as we head out.
