And most of that was awful. But he wasn’t going to mention that to his brothers. They’d only feel bad that they hadn’t known. It wasn’t like there was anything they could have done. He’d never heard of another shifter saying they’d gotten stuck in a nightmare while unconscious, so he figured it was better to just move on.
But he wanted to talk to Kyra. He wanted to thank her for trying to help him in his dreams.
And… he wanted to clear the air with her. He just wasn’t comfortable leaving things as they were. He knew she couldn’t be his partner in life, even if she was his mate.
How cruel was it that destiny had sent him a mate that he couldn't be with?
There was no point in crying about it. It was a fact, and he had to deal with it. He’d wanted to talk to her anyway, but now that he knew she was close by, waiting on him, he couldn't wait.
He pushed himself up off the bed, and this time he stayed upright. “I’m going to shower, brush my teeth, and then go talk to Kyra.”
His brothers made several loud protests, but he ignored them. He was going to talk to his mate.
It might be the last time he ever did.
