Epilogue One: Kat
“Hey, Sienna! How’s it going?”
“I feel like a house,” she groans. “But, boy, do I have some great dirt for you!”
“Ooh! What is it?”
“You remember that teacher, the one who tried to make my life and yours hell?”
“Yeah, Annabeth!”
“Well, her daughter…”
“Annabelle, right?”
“Yeah. She got herself in some trouble.”
“Oh my gosh,” I gasp. “What happened?”
“She got involved with a guy in college. And she got pregnant. Her mom is furious. The whole town is talking.”
“Oh my god. Poor Annabelle. She was such a sweet thing. It’s a pity her mom is such a bitch.”
“I know, right? I always liked her. Hopefully she gets along alright. She had to leave school. It was too stressful for her.”
“Please tell me she’s not staying with her mom.”
“She is. I feel so bad for her.”
“Brother, me too.”
“Anyway, back to things. How is Thor? Is he treating you right or do I need to come down there and kick his ass?”
I can almost hear the smile in her voice. She had it so rough, it’s nice to hear how happy he makes her.
“He’s perfect. I couldn’t ask for a better man. What about your guy? Any regrets going the online dating/mail order bride route?”
“None at all. He keeps me very happy,” I purr.
“Okay. That’s great and I’m so happy that you’re happy but maybe don’t purr anymore. It’s not good. Purr to your husband, not me!”
“Trust me, I do. Especially when he…”
“No! Lalala! I can’t hear you!” she singsongs through the phone, making me laugh.
“Okay, okay. I got it. You can uncover your ears and quit singing. You’re being very immature, Sienna,” I huff.
Her laugh rings out wild and long. “I gotta keep you on your toes, old lady.”
“I’m not old.”
“Older than me.”
“Maybe so. I’m definitely more mature than you, my friend.”
“Oh stop it! “Don’t get so snippy. I know you’re happier than you’ve ever been.”
“Yeah.” I giggle. “I’m about to make Ronan happier than he’s ever been too.”
