Daddy's Adorable Assassin (Daddy's Little Deviants)
“Your body needs time to heal after how rough I was with you.”
“Why don’t you believe me that I’m fine? I’ve done everything you’ve told me to do over the past five days. There was only light bleeding the day after, which you said isn’t abnormal. I used the CBD oil you told me to, drank all the water you insisted on, and did the sitz bath, even though I didn’t need it. Why won’t you touch me anymore?”
“I’m just being considerate, love.” He covered my hand with his. “Look how much bigger than you I am. I can easily hurt you without trying.”
My heart melted. He’d called me love. “Am I?”
“Are you what?”
“Please make love to me.” I chickened out of the question. What if he said no. I couldn’t handle that.
“Soon. Will you be patient? I promise it’ll be worth it.” He kissed my shoulder. “I want it to be better next time, slower, pay more attention to you and not just what I need. I’m not there yet.”
“It’s hot that you want me so much.”
He chuckled. “Will you trust me?”
I sighed. “Okay, I’ll trust you, even though I wouldn’t mind being under you again.”
He groaned. “Close your eyes and go to sleep, pretty boy.”
I smiled, content with his arms around me and feeling safe. He slipped a hand under my shirt and stroked my stomach, a gentle touch that put me right to sleep.
When I woke up, I felt groggy. I couldn’t have been asleep for long. Something about the room was different. I shifted closer to Hunter. His side of the bed was warm but empty.
“Daddy?” I called softly.
I stretched and waited for him, but he didn’t return to bed. I checked the time on the alarm clock. It was some minutes to midnight. What was Hunter doing up at this hour?
I slipped out of bed and tugged down my shirt. Rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I padded to the bathroom, but he wasn’t there. I climbed down the stairs and found a light on in the living room. The door to the patio was open, and hushed voices came from outside.
Frowning, I crept closer until I could make out Daddy. He had thrown on his robe, but his feet were bare.
“If something’s going on, Hunter, you need to distance yourself from him.”
The FBI agent. What the hell was he doing here?
“I don’t know how to explain it, but he needs me. He doesn’t have anyone else, and if I just walk out on him, I would abandon him like everyone else in his life has done. Whatever you think is going on here, it’s not real. It’s all an act to persuade him to cooperate with us.”
“Yeah, but don’t you think you’re going too far?”
“I’ll do whatever it takes to get the job done, to see what we can piece together about what happened to my wife.”
“Are you prepared to lose yourself while hunting for answers?”
“And how is that your problem? My career is at stake here. My reputation. It has absolutely nothing to do with you.”
“Doesn’t it? Are you sure about that, Hunt?”
Agent Knight grabbed Hunter at the back of his head and kissed him. The breath escaped my lungs, and my heart threatened to jump from my body. Nononono. I couldn’t have another Daddy betray me the way Virgil had. Why wasn’t he pushing Agent Knight away? Why was he standing there with the man’s mouth on his, his free hand grabbing Hunter’s hips, grinding their lower halves together?
Was he making Daddy hard?
Hunter’s rejection from earlier sounded like an excuse now. Was Agent Knight the one he truly wanted?
I crawled back upstairs, my chest aching. I wanted to run downstairs, grab one of the kitchen knives, and stab Hunter in the heart for kissing another man. Maybe if I had his beating heart in my hand, I would feel better.
Tears swam in my eyes, and once I was in his room, I dove under the sheets. I sobbed into my pillow, plots of murdering him running through my mind. One betrayal had been enough.
