I Can Fix That

But for now all I will ask of you is to be mine. And I will never wonder again if you and I were meant to be.

Forever yours.

Anything you want me to be.

I lay on the floor two hours later, covered in letters scattered everywhere. Tears were attempting to dry at the corner of my eyes. Tears of happiness, grief, passion, sadness, and love. I had every emotion you could think of running through my mind, and my initial thought was to get to Grant as soon as possible.

I reached for my phone and attempted to call him, although after ringing only a few times, it went straight to voicemail. Which was an automated message because of course, Grant Dawes would never have a personalized message on his voicemail.

After hearing the tone indicating to leave my message, I spoke fast and unevenly.

“Grant Dawes, you better answer your phone right now.”

How dare he make me fall more in love with him and then not answer me.

Suddenly there were two loud knocks on the door, and I prayed that on the other side was the man I needed to see most. When I opened the heavy door, my heart skipped a beat. There stood my wall of Grant, and I felt my emotions flood in at once.

“You’re here.”

I wasn’t sure if my sentence came out as a statement or a question, but I was too excited to care.

“I was waiting downstairs. Al has been talking my ear off about you.”

I chuckled briefly and opened the door wider to let him in. He wasn’t wearing his work clothes today, and it was refreshing- although I might miss those pants of his. He had a white T-shirt and black pants, with a small and open blue button-up over. His hair was perfectly styled, and he looked rested like he had been in hibernation for the last three months.

“Did you read them…”

His voice wavered as if he was embarrassed, and I wanted to jump him right here.

“I did…Grant I don’t even know what to say.” I was teary-eyed again, man I really need to sort my emotions out.

“Say yes. Be with me. Let’s make it our house and we can be together with nothing else in the way. Give me the word and I’ll make it all yours.”

He owned me, every fiber of my being was his and no matter what I knew I would always say yes to him. As if there were anything else to say?

“Yes, Grant. Yes to everything.”

He barrels into me, his arms tight around my waist and his face burrowed in the crook of my neck. I wrap my weak arms around his muscular shoulders and bring him closer to me. My chest pressed against his, and my heart was beating faster than ever.

He pulled away just enough so I could see his face. He took both his hands under my jawline, forcing our eyes to meet.

“I love you. I have since I saw you climbing those paint cans, I will till I am old and gray. I love you so damn much.”

I smiled brightly at him, and my heart swelled at the words I needed to hear most from him.

“I am yours Grant.”

“I am yours.” He repeated and I knew I would never wonder what the purpose was for Grant Dawes to come to this town.

It wasn’t because he was a runaway criminal.

It wasn’t because he was an undercover cop.

It wasn’t even because he was trying to help Beau out.

It was because God knew he was meant to be mine, and I was his.
