Of Fae and Hate

She gives me a bright smile before pushing a hand through her magenta hair. "You're all done, good. I'll escort you back to the main office. Do you have any questions that I can be of assistance for?" she asks, placing her hands behind her back as she begins to lead me back through the hall.

I shake my head, "No, no questions." But almost as soon as I say it, I change my mind. "Do you often let people into the academy who have zero idea as to what fae are, who could even possibly be human?" I ask.

Her brows furrow slightly and she shakes her head. "You're not human, Neryssa. Sure, I may not know exactly what type of fae you are, but I know you're one of us for sure."

"How do you know?" I ask, my gaze sweeping over her to one of the portraits on the wall behind her.

She gives me a soft smile. "For starters, I know your mother very well, and when she told me you were special, I knew she was telling the truth. When I met you, it only confirmed it further."

How about giving me an answer without really giving me an answer.

I shake my head slightly. "Oh, okay."

We take our next few steps in silence until we make it back to the main office. Ms. Hallen turns to me, clasping her hands together. "Do you need help finding your dormitory?" she asks.

I shake my head, "No, thank you. I can find it myself."

"Great, you're going to love your roommates. Here’s your room assignment,” she passes over the little piece of paper, “and the key card to your room.” She passes the card over. “I'll be seeing you before classes start to make sure you're fine with the classes that we assign to you once we're aware of your species."

I give her a nod and then I'm pushing back out of the office, the sun beaming down on me the second I step outside.

I take in the campus some more as I find my way to my dorm. I'm thankful that I studied my map so much before coming, but I still end up slightly lost before I finally reach the correct dorm. My breathing has gotten embarrassingly deep from all the walking and I know that if I had to tote my luggage around, I’d be near dead by now. However, I’d listened to mom when she insisted that I just have my luggage portaled over like most of the students. It should be ready for pick up before bedtime tonight.

I step inside of the dorm and there's a desk a few feet in front of me, two elevators on either side of it. There's a couch against one of the walls and a door on either side. The desk is empty but I figure it must be the reception place where someone is supposed to be.

Funny that they aren't there on move in day, so they're probably not going to be here any other time either.

I move over to the elevators, pressing the up button. My room is 321B, the top floor. The elevator dings and I step inside, pulling my bag behind me.

I wait patiently as the elevator crawls up, looking at the lit numbers sitting on the top of the door. It dings as the number three pops up and the doors open. I step out, immediately greeted with a lot of chatter. I peer down the hall, finding a large living area with four couches and a large flat screen TV. There has to be about a dozen girls in the room, all talking and laughing loudly. They don't spare me a glance as I past by them.

I look at all the dorm room numbers, surprised to find there’s only six dorms on the entire floor. I let out a breath of relief as I finally make it to mine, which is all the way at the end of the hall. I swipe my keycard on the pad and it lights up green before something clicks.

I push the door open and almost immediately I'm attacked.

A body slams into mine.

"My god, Zo, you're going to fucking kill her," a feminine voice says as I try to catch my barings.

There's a pair of thin arms wrapped around me and I can feel someone moving her face against mine, which is really fucking weird. I refrain from pushing her off of me since it's clear that she isn't actually trying to hurt me. But when she lets out what sounds like a purr, I almost lose my resolve.

"Zo!" The other voice snaps again.

"I'm sorry," a lighter voice says before I'm finally released. I look up into sweet, indigo eyes and I'm greeted with a shy smile. The girl has tan skin and there's a smattering of freckles on her face. Her hair stops at her shoulder, the locks a few shades darker than her eyes. She rubs her cheek, pink painted nails catching my attention. “Sorry," she apologies again.

"Uh... it's okay." I tell her, even as I take a step back.

"Great, you've already got her running.”

I turn, finally finding the owner of the other voice.

The girl is beautiful with skin a few shades darker than my own. Her hair is styled in a couple of chunky twists, dark green with a few brighter strands that are closer to a lime color. Her emerald eyes are moving over me as she folds her arms over her chest. She's wearing a white tank top that's cut slightly in the front to leave her cleavage on display. A pair of black skinny jeans look glued to her thick thighs.

She's hot and from the way she strides over to me, it's clear she knows it.

I brace myself for another mean, catty girl that I'm going to have to tell off as she finishes her once over, her eyes meeting mine. And then she twists her dark red lips, "Hi, I'm Clemmentime, but if you ever call me that I'll kill you."

My shoulders relax and I glance over to the other girl who's excitedly shifting from foot to foot now. I look back at Clemmentime. "What should I call you then?"
