"You're job," he says after a moment. "You will be waitressing at Delirium. Do you have any experience in it?"
I nod. "I waitressed for a little bit after I graduated high school." The job hadn't lasted long after Richard had shown up in the lobby high or drunk two too many times.
"Good, Delirium gets a bit busy, so things will be hectic, but I'm sure you'll pick it up. There will be a lot of grabby hands as well, but if things get too bad, Enzo will be there." There's something in his voice that I can only describe as resentment.
"So I'm just to be waitressing for a year?" I ask in confusion. There's no way this is what I’m here to do for a year. Giovanni’s initial speech to me promised something more… sinister. And they could have easily gotten anyone to waitress at Delirium.
Vito's gaze meets mine and he raises a brow. "You're smarter than that, Winter." He taps his fingers against the table. There's a pregnant pause. "Your job at Delirium is much more complex than that. You'll not only be waitressing but you'll also be looking for something."
My brows pull together in confusion. "Looking for something? What?"
When his gaze turns to mine, it's hard, his lips pressed into a thin line. "A snake. We have a traitor in our mist and you're going to find them for us, Winter."
