“Roman, come on man, we’ve got to think this through,” Marlo said.
He shrugged. “There is nothing to think through. He’s got Alex, and I’ve got to go and get her.”
“He’s going to make you kill each other,” Antonio said.
“Antonio is right,” Liam said. “Whatever is about to go down, we’re not going to make it out alive.”
“Then you kill me,” Roman said. There was no way he was going to be able to take out Liam. He wouldn’t hurt Alex in that way.
“You’re not thinking straight,” Cash said. “This is Phillip. Your brother is a fucking pussy.”
“A pussy who has been able to evade us right to this moment, when he wanted to be revealed. We’ve been his puppets, Cash. I’m not going to let Alex get hurt because I didn’t look in the right places.” He looked toward his father. “Permission to kill him if I have to.”
“He is not going to live,” Liam said.
Roman looked toward his father-in-law.
“Son or not, Greco, he dies tonight. He set up men to attack my daughter. He nearly killed her. He attacked her here and tried to kill her himself. Tonight, he dies.”
Lucas nodded. “Agreed.”
Roman was surprised. His father would never allow anyone to make that call on family.
He climbed into the car, turned over the ignition, and pulled out of the main parking lot, heading down the long drive.
“You know where your brother is?”
“Yes. It’s our family safe house. It’s not too far from here.” Pressing his foot on the gas the moment they cleared the street, Roman kept an eye on the road, also checking for any possible leads of people following them.
He wasn’t worried, but he wanted to be prepared for everything.
Glancing behind and in front of him, he was aware of Liam staring at him as he drove.
“What?” he asked.
“You said you love my daughter. Was that a lie?”
“No.”
“How can you love my daughter?”
“How can I not?” he asked, glancing over at Liam. “She is not a hard person to love, Sir. It just took me some time to see it.”
“And your friends?”
“Look, I thought she was lying. I thought she was … different. The women I’ve been with before, they loved the attention that my friends gave them, and I always tested them.”
“So you treated my little girl like those bitches I’ve seen sniffing around you.”
Roman tightened his grip on the steering wheel. “It wasn’t intentional. Alex rebuffed them at every single opportunity.”
“Of course she did.” Liam tutted. “If she asks for a divorce after this, you are to grant her it, no questions asked.”
“We have adopted kids together, Liam. I’m not going to turn my back on them.”
“You did it as all part of a plan to seduce her.”
“I did it because those kids are amazing,” Roman said. “Being around them and Alex, we’re a family. I don’t expect you to understand that.” He shook his head and brought the car to a stop at the side of a curb. “We have to walk from here.”
