Prison Fling - Page 49

Incredibly nervous, I swallowed heavily. Had I gotten the time wrong? The date? I checked my phone for the billionth time, but from what I could tell, the hearing was today.

So slowly, I took a seat in the front as people began to trickle in. Ah, there was the press, a couple guys with cameras, some with notebooks and pencils. Bummer. As a billionaire, Mason always attracted interest, especially during a high-profile appeal.

But everything melted away when he was brought into the room. It’s still like this, even six months after we were married. The world disappeared into a haze, everything losing focus except for this man.

My heart stopped, our eyes tangled.

Oh god. Mason was so handsome with that coal-black hair and blazing blue eyes. His suit was black, sharply tailored, emphasizing the broad shoulders and perfect musculature. Of course. My husband worked out in prison, honing that physique. I knew every inch of him, from the tip of his nails to every vein in that straining cock.

How in the world had I gotten so lucky? He was mine, all mine.

And as Mason walked by, our gazes locked.

I smiled.

But he didn’t smile back, expression impassive.

Hmm, that was strange.

Maybe he was trying to keep his expression stoic in the courtroom. It was probably a strategy to swing things to the positive. After all, emotions are exploited all the time by lawyers, they’re hyenas in suits.

I dismissed the thought and watched my man take a seat next to his attorney in the front of the courtroom, those broad shoulders massive.

God, I couldn’t get over how handsome he looked. My eyes scanned the back of his head, soaking Mason into every pore. And unbidden, images filled my head.

Him, hard, hot and naked.

His cock glistening with a pearl at the tip, aimed straight at my mouth.

The man’s head thrown back, jaws clenched as he erupted deep in my body, any hole and every hole available for use.

My husband was irresistible in every way. But I bit my lip because this was no place to get all hot and flustered. We were in the courtroom for crying out loud, on one of the most important days of his life.

Mason could walk out a free man.

Or he might be sent back to jail to finish the rest of his term.

I took a deep breath, trying to compose myself. Not now. We’d celebrate later, intimate and sensuous, our souls and bodies blending into one. But right now, other matters were at hand.

I needed to be more like Mason.

The alpha looked so calm, those blue eyes penetrating as always. Masterful and dominant.

Eventually, he turned his head in my direction, staring right at me. But I couldn’t read his look. What was he thinking? Was he nervous inside? Was he riding a wave of turbulence, even as he sat still as a statue?

I smiled once more, but his expression remained impassive.

Hmm, odd.

Not even one smile for your wife?

To reassure her that everything would be well?

I squared my shoulders, shooting him another tentative smile. It was just the endless ruminations. I was overthinking this. Everything was going to be fine.

After all, the appeal had been going on for two weeks now and now we were at the bloody end.

Once this was all over, we’d be together again. Whether in jail or out, I was prepared either way. I’m his wife after all, and we stick together through thick and thin.

The judges finally appeared, filing into the courtroom in black robes. A pudgy bailiff called the court into session, and the usual legal mumbo-jumbo began, dragging out every little detail until most members of the audience were nodding off.

I, however, was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I didn’t want to miss a thing. Besides, every minute that ticked away led us closer to some kind of conclusion.

Whether good or bad, we’d be okay. Me and Mason would make it, no matter what.

And after some more legal nonsense, the moment arrived.

The panel of three judges took their positions, faces hard and stern.

My heart tightened with fear.

What happened if they found him guilty?

One man began reading, paper in hand.

But I couldn’t listen. My nerves were so tight that the words just skated over my ears, not making any sense. Oh no, what was happening?

Was Mason staying in jail or not?

Shit. Shit. Shit.

Why wouldn’t my brain work?

It was only when the billionaire stood, a triumphant look on his face that I understood the outcome.

Mason’s verdict had been overturned! My husband was innocent and free to go. My heart began to pound, a dull roaring in my ears. But I managed not to make any sounds, just sitting there stunned.

My love was innocent. Free to go. This had all been a huge mistake.

I couldn’t believe it. The mere thought sent my pulse racing. Already, my mind thought up everything we could do together now that he was a free man. We could start a family. Move in together. Sleep in the same bed night after night. The possibilities were truly endless.
