“Excuse me! Are you from Ember Abyss?” I followed after her.
She looked surprised as she took me in. “I am! Do I know you?” She was pretty and close to my age, but I didn’t think she was in my year.
“No, sorry, I just was excited to see someone here who wasn’tfromhere.” I laughed awkwardly.
“Oh, wait—are you here with Simeth?” she asked with a smile.
“Yes!”
“I'm here with his older cousin,” she explained. “How are you liking it?”
“It’s beautiful! I can’t believe how deeply they hid this place.”
“Yeah, I mean, if they hadn’t, they wouldn’t have had to resort tous, would they?” She laughed. I wasn’t entirely sure what she meant.
“Yeah?”
“Of course! I mean, how much did you freak out when Simeth sprung the weird ‘breeding’ thing on you?” she half-whispered to me. “I’m thankful to have Rhuron in my life, but when he told me he found me specifically so we could breed more dragon shifters I could have killed him.”
“Wait—what?”
We were just here to breed?
That’s all he wanted me for?
“Oh… oh no, wait, has Simeth not spoken to you yet?” The horrified expression on her face made me want to die of embarrassment. There was me thinking I had something special with a gorgeous guy. And it turns out I’m livestock for breeding.
“I have to go.” I lied. Squeezing my phone back into my pocket, I decided I’d take a few more pictures and then leave. At least my grandma would get something out of this.
