“No,” Sean snapped. “Why now, all of a sudden? Why with me?”
“Like I said, I trust you.”
“With your wife?”
“Yes, with my wife,” Mason agreed calmly.
“You haven’t seen me in thirteen years, Mase. For all you know I could have turned into a complete scum bag.”
“You didn’t,” Mason said with complete confidence and unjustified conviction.
Sean scoffed. “How the fuck do you know?”
Mason looked at him with steel in his eyes. “I know. I know you, Sean. You can’t hide who you are from me. You never could. I’ve been watching you watch my wife. You liked women long before you started liking men.”
Sean stiffened. He’d never liked men. Only Mason.
“Relax. I’m not going to run out and buy you a rainbow flag, but you really should get over that. It’s all just labels. You are who you are no matter what you label it.”
Sean pressed his lips together and took a deep breath. “What happens now?”
“Well, if you aren’t planning to run away scared then I’m not really sure. We’ll have to play things out and see. I can tell you what can’t happen though. Under no circumstances are you allowed to act like nothing happened. If you stay, you acknowledge the fact that tonight happened. Liberty is fragile and has a lot of demons in her past. She won’t be able to deal with you pretending nothing happened. It’ll stir up old memories she doesn’t need right now. I won’t allow her to feel ashamed.”
“So what, you want me to bring it up at breakfast tomorrow? ‘Gee, Libby, this French toast is delicious. By the way, so is your pussy.’ What the fuck, man? I can’t do that!”
“Don’t be an idiot. I’m just saying…be casual about it. How would you act with a lover the next morning?”
“I’m usually out by sunrise.”
Mason pursed his lips. “I’m not surprised.”
“Don’t,” Sean warned. He didn’t need another lecture about his inability to commit to even short term affairs. Sighing, he tried to think of how he would act with a woman the morning after. “I don’t know. I guess I would be a little affectionate. Knowing me I’d probably try to hit it one more time before I sent her home.”
“Okay, then be like that with Libby, affectionate, but no hitting it.”
Sean was shocked. “Are you serious?”
“Very. I’ll tell her I’m okay with this for now so long as we all remain honest with each other and you don’t fuck my wife without my permission.”
Sean’s eyes went wide. “Dude, do you hear yourself? Fuck your wife? You’re out of your mind! You two took vows—”
“If you can’t handle this then I’ll help you pack your things. But if you’re going to sit here and act like you aren’t interested, I’m going to tell you you’re full of shit. It was my cock you were licking a half hour ago.”
Sean gritted his teeth and fought the urge to punch Mase in the face. “I’ll stay.”
“Good. I’ll talk to Libby in the morning.” He stood. “Oh, and one more thing. On the third floor is another guestroom. Under no circumstances are you allowed in that room unless Liberty invites you. Understand?”
“What’s up there?”
“Nothing. That’s just her space. She knows she can go there and catch her breath if things overwhelm her. Promise me you won’t go up there unless she invites you.”
“Okay, I promise.”
“Good.” He began to walk to the door.
“Wait,” Sean hastily called. Mase stilled and turned. Sean felt his gaze even through the darkness of the room. “What about us? Do you expect this shit to go on and your wife not to notice that another man’s hand on your ass throws you into orgasm?”
Mason came back to the bed and sat beside him. He brushed the back of his knuckles over Sean’s rough jaw and sighed. Sean couldn’t stop himself from leaning into the caress.
“I’m not going to tell her anything right now. That doesn’t mean that I’m going to hide it either. I don’t know what the next week will bring, but I know I loved being with both of you tonight. Liberty loved it, too. And I’m pretty positive you were enjoying yourself. I think we should just see what happens. However, as much as I’m in control of my wife’s pleasure, I’m always aware of what she wants and doesn’t want. The moment she changes her mind or objects, everything stops and it’s over. I don’t need her to say it out loud. I’ll be able to tell.”
Sean caught his wrist. “Where does this leave me?”
Mason sighed. “I don’t know. I don’t want to hurt you any more than I want to hurt Libby. If you think I’m being selfish, tell me, and we’ll call it quits.”
“I don’t want to quit.”
“Neither do I,” Mason whispered back.
Sean tugged him closer and pressed his forehead to Mase’s. “I’ve missed you. I’m not gonna lie. I want you.”
