I laughed again, feeling a weight lift off my shoulders—and my heart. “Thanks for that.”
“Well, if I had a good woman to help me, I’d probably be a better person. You know with regular sex and a forgiving heart.” It was her turn to laugh, “Gee, that sounds like a full time job.”
“Yeah, but I think you can handle it.” We kissed and the room got quiet. The sun was going down and the light was fading. I loved this time of day.
“I am pretty sure I can. I don’t know though, if you’re planning on staying here, I might have to move. I don’t like driving that much.”
“That sounds good to me. You know, we have an excellent symphony here, might even be an opening for you.” Her eyes lit up and she flashed perfect white teeth.
“That sounds even better.”
“So how are we? Officially together? Am I forgiven? Officially made up?”
“Yeah, I think so. All this was before my time. I understand why you got started but I am glad to know you are making those changes. ”
“Great! You know what comes next? Makeup sex!”
“Hmm…maybe we should take a makeup shower first.”
“I like that. I love you, Lilly.” I pulled her to her feet, fully intending on taking up her offer for a couples’ shower.
“I love you too, Bullet.”
Damn! This was a significant life change but I knew I was ready for a brand new shot. I was glad Lilly was with me.
